We join with you in this deep and godly desire for marriage and we bring your heart before the Lord together in Jesus' name. Your longing to be a husband, to provide, to protect, to give safety and to support the dreams of your future wife, and to build a family that puts God first and shines His blessings into the community, is a good and honorable desire. The Scripture says, Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh Proverbs 18:22 and that marriage between a man and a woman is to be held in honor, for God said a man will leave his father and his mother, and will be joined with his wife, and they will be one flesh Genesis 2:24. We affirm with you that marriage is a lifelong covenant before God, not merely companionship, and we pray with you for a godly wife who is caring, kind, patient, and a fellow believer in Christ.
We also hear your weariness in waiting and your honest question, why is it taking so long and where is my spouse. We gently encourage you to let that weariness draw you closer to trusting the Lord's perfect timing rather than questioning His goodness. We are called to wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh Psalm 27:14 and to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. Your waiting season is not wasted. It is preparation. The Lord is shaping you even now to be the provider and spiritual leader He calls a husband to be, to love your wife even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. We pray that you will use this time to delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4, and to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.
You mentioned you really like a woman and want that to be directed by God, and we pray earnestly for that. We encourage you to pursue courtship only with the clear goal of marriage to another Christian believer, for we must not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. If she loves Jesus and seeks to honor Him, then pursue her with purity, patience, and clear intention. If she is not walking with Christ or if the Lord closes the door, we pray for grace to release her and to trust His better plan. And as you desire to go on dates and to learn and grow side by side with your future wife, we remind you of God's call to purity. Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4, and we are to flee sexual immorality, for your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you 1 Corinthians 6:18-19. Keep your courtship pure, guarding both your heart and hers, saving the gift of physical intimacy for the marriage covenant alone, which is God's protection for you both.
You also shared your desire to be extremely fit, healthy, athletic, and to advance in your career as a dual provider and personal trainer. Stewarding your body and your work for the Lord is good, for whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God 1 Corinthians 10:31. Strength and discipline can be used to serve your future family and community, but we encourage you to test every ambition by asking if it helps you love and serve God more fully, and not become an idol that replaces trust in Him. True readiness for marriage is not only physical fitness or career success, but spiritual maturity, wisdom, peace, and an open heart that listens for His voice, especially as you listen to preaching and the Word. Do not be anxious in anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.
We thank God that you have come through Jesus, for it is only by His name that we have access to the Father, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Jesus himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We rejoice that you have placed your faith in Him.
We pray together now for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this brother to You. We thank You for the godly desire for marriage You have placed in his heart. We ask for Your wisdom, Your peace that surpasses understanding, and an open heart that hears Your voice above all others. Teach him to wait with hope and courage, and to trust Your timing which is perfect. Prepare him daily to be a godly husband who will provide, protect, and lead with love and humility as Christ loves the church. Prepare his future wife wherever she is, draw her close to Yourself, make her a woman who loves You first and who will build a Christ centered home with him. Regarding the woman he likes, we ask for clear direction. If she is the one You have chosen, make that path straight and pure. If not, give him grace to step back and peace to continue waiting. Keep his courtship and future marriage pure and undefiled, honoring You in body and spirit. We also bring his desires for health and career before You. Bless the work of his hands, let him use his strength and vocation to glorify You and to be a good steward and provider, but keep his heart anchored in You and not in achievement. Speak to him through Your Word and through faithful preaching, especially about love as You define it, patient, kind, not self seeking, enduring all things. Fill his waiting with purpose, service to the community, and joy in Your presence. We surrender all the desires of his heart to You, trusting that You know what is best and that You withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
