Love supercedes law

Many are not fully aware how far the New Testament reaches. A high standard of order has been establish that goes beyond all laws.
The old spoke of a time where the laws will be written in our heart, ushering a new covenant.
-Jeremiah 31:31
Many non-believers suggest that the new testament gives a carte-blanche to sin because of forgiveness and mercy. Nothing can be further than the truth.
A Christian is now accountable for not only his/her actions ( found in the letter of the law) but also his/her thoughts found in the new testament. Our true feelings are under scrutiny. The old laws were written on stone while the new are etched on living stone (hearts)
Jesus introduced the Royal Law with specifics edicts not found in the old.
Matthew 5:28 -lusting in your mind is adultery;
1 John 3:15 - hating is murder
James 2:8-10 refers to stumbling on one point of the law and you have broken all laws. This is not found in the old.
Matthew 5:44 Love, bless, do good, and pray for those who hate you. Again this message flies in the face of the old.
Matthew 6:6 refers to praying in secret -not like tradional practices did bringing attention to oneself. Love is a selfless act.
In Matthew 6:24 Jesus stated that You can't serve two masters; either Love or hate but not both.
Roman 8:6-7 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
The old testament does not reach as far as the new.
Walking with Jesus is walking with in Divine Love- agape. You walk in Love respecting everyone. You are indeed responsible of your thoughts. The old does not adequately reach one's intent.
You must have a pure heart - a loving mind. A tall order but with our Heavenly Father anything is possible.
Stay Strong in God' Love.

I'm not sure what you mean about Jesus said something different. My blog stem from the beatitudes, words from our Lord. As you have noted by your selection of verses, Jesus is explaining that Love must be ministered to all... to the poor, to the prisoners. By citing these verses you 'appear' to be agreeing that Love has a greater scope - it's far reaching. I may be misunderstanding your point. Please clarify.

Dear Colin, If we do not love our brothers and sisters in all ways the Father has commanded us, then shall we be numbered with the goats. You see he looks for obediance in all things. But, if we fail to have love and mercy in keeping his word upon our brothers and sisters, then will we not have love or mercy given to us. SO, love will trump the law, but not really. For if we do not do it, there will be no mercy or grace.

Example: We had a pastor in a remote jungle area that had a heart attack. It was the Sabbath. The law forbids buying and selling on the Sabbath. But, we prayed for forgiveness and went in our love for the pastor to buy the medicine the hospital required. To save his life was greater than to keep the law on this day.

For all those who hear, and do, they will be saved. For the Father keeps his word, not one part of it shall be broken. Who hears the widows crying and comforts them, who takes a beggar off the street and gives him a warm place to stay, Who feeds the hungry, and gives shelter in the storm, Who takes the abused child and loves them and gives them a home, who becomes a parent to the orphan and treats them with love? If we do not these things, our sins can not be covered. And these are examples.

You can not break the law if you walk in the Love of Jesus. It's impossible. A sin is committed outside of Divine Love. Then one must repent and return to God.
In many ways we are saying pretty much the same thing. All sin has consequences. In fact we are more accountable under the new testament. My point was merely to inform our family of the cost of being Christians. We must have dominion over our minds and our actions.
Think about many of Jesus' actions that were indeed contemptible in the eyes of the scholars and law makers. However we know that His heart and mind was righteous.
Divine Love supercedes written law because it reaches further. We are more accountable. Final point; Divine Love respects others. I Love Jesus and therfore respect His ways. I desire whole-heartily to be like Him.
May the Love of God bless you and your family.

That is mostly true. All who truely love Jesus can not break any of the Bible's commandments easily. So, Agape Jesus? That is my point for he is the WORD that means all scripture is him. But, having agape means the law is implemented in love and mercy. Have a beautiful Sabbath.
