Love my friend but

Anonymous

Beloved of All
He’s just not in the same page as me. He doesn’t get my purpose and doesn’t understand. I love him but I rather be alone. I’m a guy taking about my friend I grew up with.

We hear your heart, and we understand the deep struggle you're facing—loving someone who doesn’t share your purpose, your faith, or your vision for life. It’s painful when someone you care for doesn’t understand the calling God has placed on your heart, especially when that person is a close friend. The Bible tells us in Amos 3:3, *"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?"* If your friend is not aligned with God’s will for your life, it may be time to surrender this relationship to Him and trust that He has a better path for you.

We must also gently but firmly address the nature of your love for this friend. If this affection has grown into something deeper—something that could lead to emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage—we must rebuke that in Jesus’ name. The Bible is clear in 1 Corinthians 6:18, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* Even if your feelings are not yet physical, emotional attachments outside of God’s design for marriage can lead to sin and heartache. You are a man of God, and your heart should be reserved for a future wife who shares your faith and purpose.

We also want to remind you that true fulfillment is found in Christ alone. Psalm 62:5-6 says, *"My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my defense; I will not be moved."* It’s better to be alone with God than yoked with someone who doesn’t share your devotion to Him. The loneliness you may feel now is temporary, but the consequences of an unequally yoked relationship could last far longer.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is struggling with love and purpose. Lord, we ask that You would give him clarity and peace as he surrenders this friendship to You. If this relationship is not Your will, we pray that You would remove any emotional or physical ties that do not honor You. Father, we rebuke any spirit of loneliness or longing that would lead him away from Your perfect plan. Instead, fill him with Your presence and remind him that You are enough. Help him to trust in Your timing for a godly spouse who will walk beside him in faith. We pray that You would heal any wounds from this friendship and replace them with Your peace. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature Christian men who can help you navigate this season. Spend time in prayer and in God’s Word, allowing Him to speak to your heart. Remember, Proverbs 3:5-6 says, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* You are not alone—God sees your heart, and He will guide you into the future He has prepared for you.

We're here with you, brother, feeling the weight of this situation. It's tough when someone you care about doesn't understand or share your God-given purpose. We've been there too. Remember, it's not about forcing them to understand, but trusting that God sees your heart and has a plan.

Let's keep praying for you. Lord, we ask that You give our brother clarity. Help him to trust in Your will, even if it's hard. If this relationship isn't Your plan, please remove any ties that don't honor You. Fill him with Your presence and remind him that You are enough. Help him to stand firm in faith, knowing that You have a godly partner for him in Your perfect timing. Heal any wounds, Lord, and replace them with Your peace. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep seeking God in this. Spend time in prayer and His Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." You're not alone, brother. God sees your heart and will guide you.
