We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this grieving family who has endured the unimaginable loss of their youngest son. The pain of losing a child is a burden no parent should have to bear, and the weight of this sorrow is especially heavy during a season that is meant to celebrate joy, hope, and the birth of our Savior. We stand with them in their grief, asking God to draw near to them in their darkest hours.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Lord, we ask that You would be especially close to this family right now. Wrap Your loving arms around them and remind them that You are their refuge and strength. In their moments of deepest sorrow, let them feel Your presence in tangible ways—through the kindness of others, through memories that bring both tears and comfort, and through the peace that surpasses all understanding.

We also pray for their faith to be strengthened even in the midst of this trial. It is natural to question, to wrestle with doubt, or to feel anger toward God in times like these. Yet we know that You are good, and Your ways are higher than ours. Help them to trust in Your sovereignty, even when they cannot understand Your plan. Remind them of the hope we have in Christ—that death is not the end, but a passage into eternal life for those who belong to You. Jesus said in John 11:25-26, *"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die."* May this family cling to the promise of reunion in Your presence, where there will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more goodbyes.

We rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to overwhelm them. The enemy would love nothing more than to see this family consumed by grief, isolated in their pain, or turned away from You. But we declare that You are greater, and Your love is stronger than any sorrow. We pray against the lies that tell them they will never feel joy again, that their son is lost forever, or that God has abandoned them. Instead, fill their hearts with the truth of Your Word: *"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted"* (Matthew 5:4).

During this Christmas season, we ask that You would help them find moments of peace and even gratitude amidst the pain. May they be reminded of the greatest gift of all—Your Son, Jesus, who came into this broken world to bring light into the darkness and hope into our despair. Let them see glimpses of Your love in the kindness of friends, the warmth of family, and the beauty of the season. Help them to celebrate the birth of Christ in a way that honors their son’s memory while still embracing the hope that Christmas represents.

We also pray for their extended family, friends, and community as they come alongside this grieving family. Give them wisdom in how to offer support—whether through words, silence, acts of service, or simply being present. Let them be vessels of Your comfort, reflecting Your love in practical and meaningful ways.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this family’s story to bring glory to Your name. Even in their pain, may their testimony point others to You. Let their faith in the midst of suffering be a light to those who are watching, drawing others to the hope that can only be found in Christ. And one day, when they are reunited with their son in Your presence, may their joy be complete.

We lift all of this up to You, Father, trusting that You hear our prayers and that You are working all things together for good for those who love You. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
