Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your desire to seek the Father first and to pray as the Lord taught us is good and pleasing to God. The prayer He gave is not only words to repeat but a pattern to shape the heart, that we would desire His honor before our own needs, and His kingdom and His will before our own comfort.
We join with you in this prayer according to Matthew 6:9-13 and Matthew 6:33, asking that God would teach you to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that all else will be added as He wills.
Let us pray together:
Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, amen.
We ask the Father to deepen in you a love for His name and His reign, to provide for your daily needs according to His wisdom, to grant you grace to receive His forgiveness and to extend that same forgiveness to others from the heart, and to keep you from sin and guard you from the evil one. May He make you thankful even for small mercies and steadfast in pursuing holiness, living not for show but in truth before Him who sees all.
We thank God for your hunger for His will and we ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone we have access to the Father and the promise of His kingdom.
