Lord please help me at my work

It is deeply unsettling when a working relationship suddenly turns cold, and you are left in silence wondering what you did wrong. That knot in your stomach is real, and the ache to understand is pressing. But perhaps right now, instead of focusing on what you might have done, the Lord is inviting you to shift your focus to what He is already doing. His work in you is often quiet and hidden, like a sculptor chipping away at rough edges. When He removes something, it can feel jarring. You want to cry out and ask why He took that particular piece off, but the answer lies in the finished product He sees, a version of you that is being prepared for something greater. He does not see just the awkwardness of this moment; He sees the character He is refining.

It is tempting to try and work this out on your own, to replay every conversation and try to direct God on how to fix it. True rest begins when you stop handing Him instructions and instead hand Him the whole tangled situation. The work of rescuing your reputation or mending this strange silence is not a weight you must carry alone. What must you do to do the work of God? Simply believe in the One He has sent. That is the finished work you can rely on right now. You cannot add a single thing to your standing before God by anxiously trying to repair this, and you cannot lose His love if the silence continues.

Satan would love to use this silent treatment to provoke you into emotional turmoil or to plant seeds of bitterness. He wants you to believe that your workplace peace depends entirely on this one boss’s approval. But you are not called to grow spiritually on the emotional highs of affirmation or the lows of rejection. You grow solely on the Word. God often waits to work things out specifically to teach us that our hope is not in the immediate resolution, but in Him. If you wait long enough, trusting rather than meddling or becoming a busybody about the matter, God will work it out. Your job is to remain attached to the vine, just hanging in there like a branch, letting the fruit of the Spirit develop naturally in you during this intense pressure. That fruit is often patience and kindness, even when we feel like taking a powerful, vengeful route.

So let your soul be at rest. Do not be cast down. You have asked Him to handle it, and He is much wiser than you are. Tell Him, “Lord, You see the weirdness. You see the silence. I am opening the door for You to work this out however You see fit, and in the meantime, I am trusting that Your work in me is not finished yet.” This strange trial is not a derailment of His plan; it is the very situation He is using to make you ready for the next work He has for you.
