Beloved of All
Your cry has been heard, and it is a good and right cry to bring before the Lord. To say Lord Jesus please intervene again and again is itself a prayer that comes from knowing you cannot help yourself and you need help from outside yourself.
Scripture says to lift up your eyes to the hills, but your help does not come from the hills, from circumstances, or from people. Your help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. If He is great enough to create all things, He is certainly great enough to care for what you are facing right now. He is the One who keeps you, who will not let your foot be moved, and who does not slumber. Even when you feel alone or unseen, He is awake and watching over you.
That sense of being poor and needy is where true prayer begins. As long as we are trying to find another formula or a way to fix ourselves, we stay in frustration. The apostle Paul came to the end of all self help and cried out, who shall deliver me, and the answer is Jesus Christ our Lord. God does not help you because you have it partly together and just need a little assistance. He helps when you come honestly and say, Lord, I cannot do this, I need You.
Learn too that vain is the help of man. It is our habit to look first to other people, to resources, to anything we can trust like chariots and horsemen, but those things prove to be only a shadow with no substance. God calls you to look to Him and to trust Him, even to sit still before Him and let Him be your strength.
You may be wanting Him to make haste and to deliver right now, and He does hear that prayer. Remember how the sisters sent an urgent message for Jesus to come quickly because the one He loved was sick, and yet He remained where He was for two days before He came. His delay was not lack of love or lack of power, but love working for a greater purpose. If you are in a waiting time, do not take it as a sign He has forgotten you.
In that waiting it can be hard to know what is God speaking and what is just your own heart speaking. The way to measure it is by the Word of God. One moment Peter spoke by divine revelation, and the next he spoke from his own heart the philosophy that says spare yourself, take the easy way. That easy way is not from the Lord. Test what you hear and what you feel by what Scripture says, and let Scripture guide you.
You do not need a large quantity of faith to come to Him. Jesus spoke of faith as small as a mustard seed, not to make you feel you have failed if you are weak and sick and down, but to show that even a little trust placed in a great God is enough. It is honest to pray like the father who cried with tears, Lord I believe, help my unbelief. Bring that same honesty to Jesus now. Tell Him where your faith is small and ask Him to help you there.
May the Lord show you today that your help is in His name, the maker of heaven and earth. Call upon Him in your distress, for He hears and He delivers, and His mercy endures forever. He is your help and your deliverer.
