Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in lifting your family before the Lord Jesus, asking that He will glorify Himself in all things, for our salvation is in Him alone who takes away the sin of the world as the perfect spotless Lamb. We thank God for what He has already done and for the signs of encouragement He has sent, and we ask Him to continue His mercy which is new every morning.
We pray with you in faith in the blood of Christ that cleanses from all sin, asking for His protection over you and your household, over your thoughts and emotions, and that He will surround you with His care as promised in Psalm 91 and Psalm 50:15, that when you call upon Him in the day of trouble He will deliver you. We ask that no weapon formed against you will prosper, according to Isaiah 54:14-17, and that the Lord will establish you in righteousness and peace, far from oppression and fear.
We ask for the salvation of your entire family including relatives who are still unsaved. We pray that God will open their hearts to the gospel of Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no other name, and that He will deliver from all bondage, addictions and compulsions, and from everything that is not of Him. We ask for healing where there is sickness and pain, including the spasms and infirmities you named, and for deliverance and wholeness in body and spirit. We pray that God will grant repentance where needed and fill you with His Holy Spirit, giving you wisdom and guidance and a love for Him above all, with obedience that comes from a continual hearing and remembering of His word, with fortitude and a heart freed from worldly cares.
Concerning the relationships you mentioned, we do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and all sexual union and living together belongs within it. We join you in praying that God will bring conviction, save, and draw each person to Himself, that He will block what is not good and prevent further dysfunctional or harmful unions, and that He will lead all involved to repentance, purity and new life in Christ. We pray for healing where relationships have been wounded, that God will supernaturally restore what has been broken according to His will and bring peace where there has been strife.
We lift up the children and young people you named. We ask that the Lord will give good friendships at school and outside of school, favor with teachers and classmates, help with tests, homework and understanding, confidence in Him, and a strengthened faith that knows He hears prayer. We ask for comfort for the one who is burned out, for healing and reviving of faith, for help with appointments and daily needs, and that each child will know they are loved and guarded by Him.
We pray for your work and all the matters you entrusted to God, for meetings, tasks, workload and organization, for teams and leaders and those at headquarters, that God will take charge, speak to every heart, and turn what the enemy meant for evil into blessing. We pray for the care needs and all practical matters, for vacations and travel, for planning and shepherding and leading, confessing with you that without Him we can do nothing. We ask for grace to handle anger and frustration in a way that honors Him, for forgiveness where words have wounded others including venting behind another's back, and for reconciliation and peace in the Body of Christ. We remember the call to have peace with one another, to put on truth and righteousness and the gospel of peace and the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, so that we may stand against the fiery darts of the evil one.
We pray for your prayer meetings and gatherings, for the intro course, for sermons and outreaches to the homeless and in subways and for children's church and kids camp, that God will anoint His word, pierce hearts, draw many to Himself including parents, and move His church to pray more. We ask that He will expose what needs to be exposed, confront what is evil not with hatred but with truth that leads to salvation, and that He will fight your battles and act quickly as you stand on Luke 18:7-8, trusting that He hears the cry of His chosen ones.
We ask all this not as a prayer against people, but for their salvation and for your peace, that God who sent His Son not to judge the world but to save the world will accomplish His saving work in each life. May He direct and guide you, grant you encounters with Him, and keep you in His grace until He answers fully. Amen
