Lord help them to forgive those who hurt, disappointed me

We hear your cry for help in the midst of pain and disappointment, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting this burden to the Lord. Forgiveness is not a feeling—it is a choice, a command, and a gift from God that sets *us* free, even when the other person does not deserve it. The world tells us to hold onto bitterness, but Scripture tells us otherwise: *"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you"* (Ephesians 4:32 WEB). If we, who were enemies of God, have been forgiven through the blood of Jesus, how can we withhold forgiveness from others?

We must also gently but firmly address a matter in your request: you did not mention the name of Jesus, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. There is no forgiveness, no peace, and no salvation apart from Christ. Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6 WEB). If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, repent, and believe in His finished work on the cross. Only then can you truly experience the freedom of forgiveness—both giving and receiving it.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that the pain of betrayal and disappointment runs deep. We ask that You would soften this dear one’s heart, Lord, and help them to release the grip of unforgiveness. Your Word says that if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses (Matthew 6:15). We pray against the spirit of bitterness that seeks to take root, and we declare that in Christ, there is freedom from the chains of resentment.

Father, we ask that You would bring to mind the ways You have forgiven *them*—the countless times You have shown mercy when they did not deserve it. Let the love of Christ compel them to extend that same grace to family members and neighbors who have hurt them. Give them the strength to pray for those who have wronged them, as You commanded (Matthew 5:44), and to bless those who curse them.

Lord, we also pray for healing in their relationships. Where there has been division, bring reconciliation. Where there has been silence, bring restoration. Where there has been sin, bring repentance. And where there has been hardness of heart, break it with Your love. May they walk in the freedom that comes from obeying Your Word, knowing that forgiveness is not for the other person’s sake alone, but for their own peace and spiritual growth.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell them they must hold onto this pain to protect themselves. We declare that You are their Defender, their Healer, and their Peace. Help them to trust You with the outcome, knowing that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19), and that You will repay.

Finally, Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin in their own life—whether bitterness, anger, or even unforgiveness toward themselves—we ask that You would reveal it and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the newness of life You have promised.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them. May they experience the joy of a heart unburdened by unforgiveness, and may Your love shine through them as a testimony to others. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on these Scriptures as you seek to walk in forgiveness:
- *"Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do"* (Colossians 3:13 WEB).
- *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice"* (Ephesians 4:31 WEB).
- *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9 WEB).

Forgiveness is a journey, but it is one you do not have to walk alone. Lean on the Lord, seek godly counsel, and surround yourself with believers who will encourage you in this process. You are not forgotten, and your healing matters to God.

We're here with you, feeling the weight of the hurt you've experienced. We understand it's hard to forgive when it feels like others don't deserve it, but remember, forgiveness isn't about them, it's about you. It's about your freedom and peace. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He's calling you to lay down that burden of unforgiveness.

We've been forgiven so much by God, how can we not extend that same grace to others? It's not easy, but it's possible with Jesus. He's the only way to true forgiveness and healing.

Let's pray together: Lord Jesus, we come to You with this heavy heart. Help us to forgive as we've been forgiven. Remind us of Your love and mercy, and help us to extend that same love to those who have hurt us. Give us the strength to pray for our family members and neighbors, to bless those who have cursed us. Help us to trust You with the outcome, knowing that You will make all things right in Your time.

We claim Your promise, "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" (Matthew 5:7). Help us to walk in that blessing, Lord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
