Lord have mercy and give me an answer...

Beloved of All
Unfortunately, I have sinned with pornography and masturbation... Please pray that the Heavenly Father will have mercy, forgive me and save me in the Name of Jesus Christ. May God remember my tears, pain and struggle all these years and have mercy on me. It seems like there is no hope, the same thing is happening again and again, may the Lord have mercy and give me an answer...

We hear your cry for mercy and forgiveness, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before our Heavenly Father. Your honesty and humility before God are the first steps toward true freedom. The enemy would love nothing more than to keep you in chains of shame and despair, but we declare that Jesus Christ has already broken those chains at the cross. His blood is sufficient to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, including the sin of pornography and masturbation, which Scripture clearly identifies as lust of the flesh and a distortion of God’s holy design for intimacy (Matthew 5:28, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

The cycle of struggle you describe is not uncommon, but it is not hopeless. The apostle Paul himself cried out, "For the good that I desire, I don’t do; but the evil which I don’t desire, this I practice. ... Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!" (Romans 7:19, 24-25). The answer is not in your own strength but in surrendering fully to Christ, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). This battle is not just about behavior, it is about the heart. You must guard your eyes, yes, but more importantly, you must guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23), filling it with God’s Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew your mind (Romans 12:2).

We rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. We command it to loose its grip on you and declare that you are no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, called to walk in purity and holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16). You must take practical steps to flee temptation, cutting off access to ungodly influences, seeking accountability with a trusted brother in Christ, and replacing idle time with prayer, fasting, and the study of Scripture. Remember, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Your tears and pain have not gone unnoticed by our Father. He collects every one of them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8) and promises to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). You are not defined by your failures but by the finished work of Christ on the cross. If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Do not let shame keep you from running to Him, He is waiting with open arms.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is struggling under the weight of sin and shame. Lord, we thank You that You are a God of mercy and compassion, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. We ask that You would pour out Your grace upon him, reminding him of the power of the blood of Jesus to cleanse him from all unrighteousness. Father, we rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction that has sought to ensnare him, and we declare that he is free in Christ. Strengthen him, Lord, with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness, no longer conformed to the patterns of this world but transformed by the renewing of his mind.

We ask that You would heal his heart from the pain and despair he has carried for so long. Remind him that his worth is found in You alone, not in his performance or his failures. Surround him with godly men who can encourage and hold him accountable. Give him the courage to take practical steps to flee temptation and the discipline to fill his mind with Your Word. Lord, we pray that You would break the cycle of sin in his life and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. May he experience the freedom and joy that comes from walking in obedience to You.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). We trust in Your promise that those who seek You will find You, and that those who knock, the door will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8). May he know Your peace that surpasses all understanding and rest in the assurance of Your love. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Do not lose heart, dear brother. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Jesus from the dead, and transformed the apostle Paul from a persecutor of the church to a preacher of the Gospel is at work in you. He is able to do far more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Keep pressing into Him, and do not give up. The battle is already won, you are simply walking out the victory Christ has secured for you.

We ache with you in this cry for mercy, and we don’t take lightly the weight of years spent in a cycle that feels like defeat. We hear no pretense, just the raw exhaustion of someone who has struggled and wept and longed for real hope. Please know you are not alone, and being honest about this, out loud, in prayer, is already a step into the Light.

God’s mercy isn’t thin or impatient. He knows the depths of our weakness, and He meets us there not with rolling eyes but with a love that has already covered every sin. Your tears are not lost on Him; He stores them up. Right now, the most urgent thing we can offer isn’t a formula for never stumbling again, but the quiet truth that you are still held, still loved, and still being drawn forward, even when progress feels invisible.

One practical thing that can make a huge difference is breaking the secrecy that fuels this kind of struggle. If you can, find one trusted, mature brother or sister in Christ, someone safe, someone who won’t reel back in shock, and simply tell them, “I’m in a long battle and I need someone to walk it with me.” Meeting regularly just to talk, pray, and check in can rob the cycle of its hidden power. That kind of faithful presence is often the beginning of genuine change.

We are praying earnestly for you:

Lord Jesus, You see this dear one’s exhaustion and the years of inner war. Thank You that no amount of failure can outrun Your mercy. Quiet the voice of despair that says hope is gone. Give the courage to reach out for real help, and surround them with a friend who will walk this road without judgment. Restore a sense of Your nearness tonight, not because they have earned it, but because Your cross has purchased it. In Your strong name we pray, amen.

The whisper of hope comes to you even now in your distress: There is forgiveness. In the thick darkness of your repeated fall, the light of mercy has not gone out. Despair would have you believe that your sin has placed you beyond God’s reach, but the truth of the gospel speaks louder: “There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared.” Do not imagine that your tears or years of struggle are the ground of your hope, they are not. Yet God does mark your weeping, and your very agony over this sin proves that the Spirit has not utterly forsaken you. But if you are to find peace, it must be in Christ alone.

Remember this: there is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you! You have sinned through pornography and self-defilement, and you mourn that it holds you fast. Yet the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. The rope of mercy is cast to the sinner, will you refuse to lay hold of it? You cry, “It seems there is no hope, the same thing happens again and again.” That is the voice of the flesh and of the law. But faith looks away from self to the crucified Redeemer. Pardon is not a prize to be run for by your successful striving; it is a blessing received at the first step of the race. God for Christ’s sake has forgiven His people. If you ask forgiveness in the name of Jesus, then take it! If thou canst ask forgiveness for the sake of Jesus, God will do anything for Jesus, and He will do anything for thee for His dear sake.

You feel as though you are a hostage to your own lusts, bound and helpless. But listen: When the Spirit draws you to the mercy seat, such a fear must vanish, for if you are at the mercy seat, God is there too. He dwells between the cherubim; you only go there sometimes, but it is His abiding place. Go, then, and pour out your complaint. You cannot be destroyed while you cry, “Let us pray!” You have not gone beyond His mercy. You cannot go beyond it if you will trust His Son. The law condemns, but the gospel proclaims, “There is forgiveness.” Let that sweet note drive out the hellish suggestion that you have sinned beyond all limits.

Do not look for deliverance from this sin by your own vows and resolutions. Cast yourself wholly upon Christ. Come to Him just as you came at first, with all your filthiness, and rest in His finished work. He will set you free and load you daily with His benefits if you trust His dear Son. The mercy of God in Christ is an eternal forgiveness, full and free. And as you hope in the Lord, you shall find that with Him is plenteous redemption. Wait for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning, for in the morning of His grace, light shall break. There is forgiveness, and therefore there is hope. Lay hold of it now.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The tears you shed, the pain you feel, the struggle that has persisted for years, these do not escape the notice of God. But understand this clearly: the mercy you cry out for is not a mere feeling in the heart of God that waits passively for your sorrow. It is an active, purging fire that demands a corresponding movement in you. You say the same thing happens again and again, and you see no hope. This very despair is a sharper enemy than the act itself, for it declares that your sin is mightier than the grace of your baptism.

You ask why you do not obtain mercy. Does not the Apostle say, "How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein"? The Layer of regeneration did not save you so that you might return to the vomit, but that you might walk in newness of life. When you roll in the mire again, you insult the gift. Yet still, if you are contrite, if you stand as one condemned, as one who has no boldness and deserves nothing but punishment, there is a path. For sin confessed becomes less, but sin that hides itself festers and grows bold. You must never forget the ugliness of what you have done, even while you beseech God to forget it. If you remember it with self-accusation, He will forget it. If you let it fade from your mind, you will fall again. Let your lament be nightly; let your groan be upon your bed. This is not to crush you but to make you watchful.

But hear this with great terror, for it is the answer you seek. Why do you cry for mercy and receive no answer? Look at your hands. Are they full of mercy for others? You come to God asking for the kingdom of heaven, but you yourself do not extend a hand when it is begged of you. The mercy you desire is shut up because the mercy you ought to show is shut up within you. God says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." This is a contract, a bond. If you show mercy to your fellow-servant, God will show mercy to you. If you are pitiless, even toward one who has wronged you in matters of money or small sins, how can you stand before the Judgment? For he who is hard on another man, even if he pours out rivers of tears, will have judgment without mercy. You must loosen your grip on the anger and grudges you hold. Forgive every debt, every insult, every wound you have received. For in truth, when you forgive your neighbor, you are not granting a favor to him, but you are performing the work that saves your own soul. It is a greater thing than sacrifice.

Do you wish to quench the fire of that passion that consumes you? There is an oil even greater than that which fuels your lamp: the oil of mercy. Alms and acts of pity toward the poor are a light that breaks forth in the morning and cuts through the deepest darkness of sin. Give alms, and all things will be clean unto you. Turn your gaze outward. Seek out a need that you can meet, a body in pain you can soothe. This is the true character of a Christian, yea, the very character of God. And while you cannot purify yourself by your running alone, for it is not ultimately of him that willeth or runneth, but of God that showeth mercy, yet God is moved by those who, in their brokenness, begin first to show mercy. Let your prayers rise, but let your hands be stained with the labor of compassion, not sin. Go now, and do a work of mercy. In that act, Christ will meet you, and you will find you have not cried for mercy in vain.
