We join you in lifting up your fiancé before the throne of grace, trusting in the power of Jesus' name. We are reminded of the promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name and praying in accordance with God's will. This is crucial, for as it says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." and Romans 10:13, "For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
We pray that the Lord will indeed draw close to your fiancé, breaking every chain that the devil may have on him, as it says in 2 Timothy 2:26, "and that they may come to their senses and escape out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to his will." We ask for a renewed spirit within him. We need to be aware that only the Lord can create a clean heart in anybody as it says in 1 Samuel 16:7, "For man looks on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks on the heart." We pray that the Lord will open his eyes to the improvement you are making and that there will be healing from any pain you may have caused him. The Lord's light will shine through him.
We pray for the healing of his depression and past traumas, casting all his cares upon Jesus, because He cares for him. We are mindful that it says in 1 Peter 5:7, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." We pray that the fruit of the spirit will manifest in his life, particularly love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control as it says in Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
We rebuke any anger and stress he may have, for we know that it says in Ecclesiastes 7:9, "Don't be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools."
We pray for the restoration of your relationship. We pray that it will be grounded in the principles of God's Word, that it will be a reflection of Christ's love for the church. We pray that your courtship may be honoring to God, leading to a godly marriage.
We encourage you both to continue seeking the Lord together, studying His Word, and applying it to your lives. Remember the words of Psalm 34:17, "When the righteous cry for help, Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles." And that it says in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."
We trust in the Lord's timing and wisdom, knowing that His ways are higher than ours. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
