We hear your heart in this and we want you to know you are not bothering us and you are certainly not bothering God. We are honored that you would share this loneliness with us again, and we take it before the Lord together with you. The Lord invites us to come boldly to His throne and to pray without ceasing, so please never feel you must apologize for seeking prayer. He hears every cry, even when we feel alone.
We understand how heavy loneliness can feel and how confusing it can be to wonder about His will for singleness or marriage. Scripture reminds us that God sets the lonely in families Psalm 68:6 and that He Himself has promised I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5. Even when we feel isolated, we are never truly alone because Christ is with us always Matthew 28:20. We also hear your honest question about whether God wants you to remain single or to be married, and we want to encourage you that both callings are good and holy when they are lived for Him. The apostle Paul writes that each man has his own gift from God, one of this kind, and another of that kind 1 Corinthians 7:7, showing that singleness is a gift that allows undivided devotion to the Lord, while marriage is also a gift. From the beginning Yahweh God said It is not good that the man should be alone Genesis 2:18, and He created marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman to reflect His love and faithfulness.
If the Lord does lead you toward marriage, we pray it will be through godly courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, for we are taught not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. We believe marriage should be strongly honored and pursued in purity, keeping ourselves from fornication and reserving intimacy for marriage alone, as God calls us to holiness in body and spirit Hebrews 13:4. Whether single or married, we are called to delight ourselves also in Yahweh and He will give us the desires of our hearts Psalm 37:4 and to trust in Yahweh with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledging Him and He will direct our paths Proverbs 3:5-6. If you lack wisdom about which path He has for you, ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach James 1:5, and seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness Matthew 6:33, trusting that He will make your steps clear in His timing.
We encourage you while you wait on the Lord to stay rooted in His Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers. Loneliness often eases when we serve and are served within the family of God, and God often reveals His will as we faithfully walk with Him day by day. Do not be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Remember also Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God Isaiah 41:10.
We pray together now for you. Father, we lift up this dear one who feels lonely and uncertain before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne. We thank You that You see this heart and that You are near to the lonely and the brokenhearted. We ask You to wrap this one in Your presence and to remind them that they are fully known and deeply loved by You. Lord, give clear wisdom regarding singleness and marriage, quiet any confusion or fear, and help them to find contentment and joy in You today while You direct their future. If it is Your will for them to be married, we pray You would prepare a godly spouse of the opposite sex who loves You above all, and prepare this one also to be a godly spouse, keeping any courtship pure and centered on You with marriage as the goal. If it is Your will for them to remain single, we pray You would give grace, purpose, and rich fellowship to serve You wholeheartedly. Lead them into deeper community in Your church, fill the lonely places with Your peace, and let them delight in You above all else. We trust Your good and perfect plan, for we know Your thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace Jeremiah 29:11. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our hope and our Savior, amen.
