Libertad para Venezuela

We join you in lifting up Venezuela and all those who are unjustly imprisoned there before our heavenly Father, crying out for true freedom and justice to prevail in that land.

Our hearts are burdened for every political prisoner, for their families who wait and weep, and for the nation that longs for liberty. We know that God sees every captive and hears every cry for justice. He is a God who loves righteousness and hates oppression, and He commands us to stand for those who cannot speak for themselves. Scripture tells us to open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate Psalm 31:8, to defend the weak and the fatherless, maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed, rescue the weak and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked Psalm 82:3-4, and to remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them Hebrews 13:3. The Lord himself is described as one who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry, Yahweh frees the prisoners Psalm 146:7.

We rebuke the evil of unjust imprisonment, corruption, and the abuse of power, for these things are contrary to God's holy character and His desire for rulers to be ministers of God for good Romans 13:4. We pray that the Lord would convict the hearts of those in authority, that they would turn from wickedness and govern with truth and mercy, and that every chain of injustice would be broken. The promise of our Lord Jesus is that the Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed Luke 4:18.

We notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection that we can boldly approach the throne of grace and that those who believe in Him receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, confess Him as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead Romans 10:9.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before You for Venezuela. Lord, You see every prison cell, You know the name and suffering of every political prisoner, and You hear the cries of their loved ones. We ask for Your mercy and Your mighty hand to bring release to the captives and freedom to the oppressed. Break the chains of injustice, Lord, and let Your justice roll down like waters. We pray for the families who are grieving and waiting, comfort them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, strengthen them and let them feel that they are not forgotten. We pray for the church in Venezuela, that You would give them courage and boldness to be a light in darkness and to proclaim Your truth with love. We pray for those in power, that You would turn their hearts toward righteousness, that they would repent and seek to do what is right and good in Your sight, and that the nation would know peace, liberty, and restoration. Let Your will be done in Venezuela as it is in heaven, and let the people find their ultimate freedom not only from political oppression but in Christ alone, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect justice, and we will continue to remember these prisoners as if bound with them. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer and not grow weary, for the Lord hears the prayers of the righteous and He is near to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18. Keep lifting up Venezuela before Him, trusting that He is working even when we cannot see.

We are joining you in prayer for Venezuela and for every political prisoner still being held. To carry this burden for your nation and for so many families waiting for a loved one to come home is heavy, and we hear the love behind your request.

What encourages us as we pray with you is remembering that biblical justice starts not with systems or politics, but with God's own heart for people who are suffering and his anger at what is unjust. That heart moves us to love our neighbor in real ways, to keep seeking Him, and to do what we can to help where He has placed us. Your prayer itself is part of that love in action.

One way we have found helpful when a need feels so large is to keep praying with focus and with others. If you are able, consider inviting a few trusted believers to pray regularly by name for the prisoners, their families, and for those in authority to act with mercy and fairness, and to stay connected to a local church or ministry that is already serving Venezuelan families with practical help so your care can take tangible form alongside prayer.

Father, we lift Venezuela to You in Jesus' name. We ask You to see each person held as a political prisoner, to guard them, comfort their families, and move hearts toward justice and mercy. Give wisdom and courage to those who can bring about their freedom, and give Your peace and hope to all who are waiting. May Your will be done there. Amen.

Your cry for freedom in Venezuela and for all the political prisoners held there has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

We pray to the God whose right hand is full of righteousness and who does not overlook justice. On earth we see courts and judgments in every house and city, and we know that the Lord Himself cares far more for what is just. We ask Him to look with mercy upon Venezuela, to bring justice mingled with mercy, to move the hearts of those in authority, to open prison doors, to protect those who suffer unjustly and to comfort their families who wait and weep.

We also remember what the Scripture teaches, that true freedom is found in Christ. As it is written, if the Son makes you free, you are free indeed. People can give a freedom that is only in name, but God alone gives a firm and lasting freedom, for we were bought with a price, the cross and blood of our Lord. That freedom can be known even while chains remain, and it makes a person more honorable even in slavery and richer even in poverty, because it frees the soul from sin. So we pray both for bodily release for every prisoner and for the deeper freedom that only Jesus gives, that each one would come to know Him and be made free in Him.

May the Lord grant you courage and perseverance as you intercede, fill your soul with hope, and quench all fear and anger as you look to the cross. We ask Him to bring peace to Venezuela, to establish what is right, to guard the oppressed, and to let His goodness and salvation be seen in that land.

We continue to pray with you for this freedom and for the Lord's will to be done.

We have heard your cry for freedom for all of the political prisoners in your nation and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord for them.

God is a God of righteousness and justice and He desires that justice prevail. His word shows us that in this present world justice often stands far off. Truth falls in the street and fairness cannot enter, even in the very courts where judgment should be found. We have seen this in Scripture. Paul waited two years in prison in Caesarea without justice being done, and when Festus asked if he was willing to go to Jerusalem to face his accusers he appealed to Caesar because the process was failing him. Pilate knew Jesus was innocent and yet compromised with what was right, offering to chastise an innocent man to please the crowd, and the people demanded a notable political prisoner guilty of insurrection and murder named Barabbas be released instead of the innocent one. These accounts remind us that human systems can pervert judgment, and when justice is perverted the foundations of a nation are shaken.

Yet Scripture also gives us hope. God says He delights in His servant and has put His Spirit upon Him to open the prison to those who are bound and to bring forth justice. He will not fail nor be discouraged until He has established true justice in the earth. Though we cannot always be assured of justice from earthly tribunals, we can be assured that the Lord sees, He is not indifferent to oppression, and His righteous judgment will prevail.

We are also praying that those who are imprisoned and their families would come to know the deeper freedom that only the Son of God can give. The world speaks much about freedom, yet often that freedom becomes bondage because people are brought under the power of what they pursue. Only the child of God knows true liberty. It is not merely freedom to do whatever we desire, but freedom not to have to do what is destructive, freedom not to be brought under the power of anything. Paul said all things are lawful, but he would not be brought under the power of any, because he so loved the freedom Christ had given him. That glorious freedom comes through the power of Jesus Christ and His Spirit.

So we pray that God in His mercy would move with justice and mercy in your country, that He would open doors for those unjustly held, protect them from harm, comfort and sustain their families, restrain evil, and lead those in authority to love truth and practice righteousness. Above all we pray that many, both inside and outside prison walls, would find true freedom through faith in Jesus Christ, who bore the penalty for our sins so that His righteous demands for justice were satisfied and we might have life with Him forever.
