Beloved of All
I would yearn to adopt a child, aven if I am single... may the Lord guide me in His Ways, in Jesus Name. Amen.

We join with you in this beautiful and godly yearning to adopt a child and we thank you for submitting this desire before the Lord in Jesus' name. Your heart to provide a home reflects the very heart of our Father, and we count it a blessing to seek His will together with you.

The Scripture shows us how dear this calling is to God. James 1:27 tells us Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction. And Psalm 68:5 reminds us that He is A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 127:3 also says Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. Even more, our own salvation is pictured as adoption, as Ephesians 1:5 says having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself. Your desire is therefore deeply aligned with His character.

We also hear your honesty about doing this as a single person and we want to encourage you with both hope and wisdom. While God's perfect design for the family is a lifelong marriage between a man and a woman where a child is blessed to have both a mother and a father, He also graciously works through single parents who walk faithfully with Him and surround themselves with a strong community of believers. Adoption as a single parent is a weighty and holy responsibility that requires much counting of the cost, provision, stability, and support. We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord's clear leading, to seek wise counsel from your pastors and mature believers, for Proverbs 15:22 says Where there is no counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established. Consider the practical needs, your support system in the church family, your financial and emotional readiness, and the long term commitment to nurture a child in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

We are encouraged that you have asked for the Lord to guide you in His ways. That is the right posture. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And James 1:5 promises But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We also cling to Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. He will not leave you to discern this alone.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who longs to adopt. We thank You for placing this love for children in this heart. We ask for Your clear leading and for wisdom beyond human understanding. If it is Your will for a child to be placed in this home, we pray You would open every door that needs to be opened and close every door that needs to be closed, and provide all the resources, strength, and godly community needed to raise that child to know and love You. If You have a different path, perhaps a godly marriage first or another way to care for children, make that path unmistakably clear. Prepare the heart of this future parent and prepare the heart of the child You may have chosen. Give peace in the waiting, patience in the process, and unwavering trust in Your perfect timing and goodness. May this life and any child entrusted to it bring glory to You. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, Amen.

We hear the deep yearning in your prayer to welcome a child into your life, and your desire to be led by the Lord in this is beautiful. We join you in asking for His clear guidance as you consider this path.

Longing to adopt as a single person brings both joy and weight to hold before God. Adoption is a lifelong commitment that asks a great deal emotionally, practically, and financially, and doing it without a spouse means thinking carefully about the support around you and the daily realities of parenting alone. That is why seeking His will often happens not only in private prayer but through wise counsel and honest preparation.

One helpful next step as we pray with you is to bring this desire into conversation with a trusted pastor or mentor who knows you well, and to learn from a reputable, licensed adoption agency what the process, requirements, and supports look like for a single applicant in your area. Talking through your motives, resources, community, and long-term capacity with people who can ask kind, honest questions can help you discern whether this is the right time and way to move forward.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You for the love for children You have placed on their heart. Give wisdom, patience, and clear direction in the months ahead. Provide godly counsel and open or close doors according to Your will, and give peace as they wait on You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There is a tenderness in your yearning which reflects the very heart of our God, who has revealed Himself as a Father to the fatherless and who puts the solitary in families. To desire to give a child a home, to wash and feed and teach and pray for one who might otherwise be without such care, is a holy and Christlike desire, and I thank God to see it kindled in you.

You have done well to ask above all that the Lord would guide you in His ways, for there is no true glory for any of us unless we are guided by His counsel. The Psalmist says, You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to Glory. That must be our prayer in this and in every weighty matter. Be, then, God's pupil. Say with David, O God, You have taught me from my youth. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil, and so must we. God teaches His children not only by His Word but by His work in us and for us, and He makes us to observe and to wonder at His wondrous works.

How shall you know His guidance in this adoption? First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There you find pure religion commended as this, to visit the fatherless in their affliction, and you find also principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, among them to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. By that very bowing we are furnished with unerring guidance. When you yield yourself to the holy influences of God's presence, you shall have given to you what men call shrewd common sense, but what is really an illumination of mind which comes from dwelling near God and being made like Him.

Therefore do not make haste, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. God's promise may tarry, but it never fails, and if it seems to fail for the time being, will it fail forevermore? Take time to wait upon the Lord, to search the Scriptures, to count the cost with sober judgment, and to seek the counsel of your pastors and of mature believers who know you and can weigh with you the burden and the blessing of raising a child alone. A child needs not only bread and shelter but daily instruction, correction, comfort and prayer, and the single parent bears a double weight. Consider honestly your provision, your health, your household, your church family who will stand with you, for the Lord often provides His help through His people. His mercies are innumerable, and every one of them comes to us by way of the Cross and bears the mark of the Redeemer's blood upon it, yet He would have us walk wisely and not presumptuously.

If after seeking His face, opening His Word, and hearing the counsel of the wise, the way remains open and peace attends it, go forward trusting that He who has taught you from your youth will teach you still to declare His wondrous works in that child's life, sometimes with your pen, sometimes with your voice, always with your example. If He closes the door, trust that same counsel, for He guides His own to grace and to glory, and He withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly.

Let us pray together. O Lord, You have given commandment to save and to keep Your people, and Your mercies toward us are more than we can number. Look upon this heart that longs to shelter a little one. Give clear counsel, grant patience without murmuring, wisdom without self confidence, and submission without reserve. If it be Your will to place a child in this home, provide all that is needful for body and soul, and make this parent a faithful pupil and pupil teacher of Your wondrous grace. If it be otherwise, quiet the heart with Your presence and turn this love to other fruitful service in Your house. Guide with Your counsel on earth, and afterward receive into Glory, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your longing to provide a home and love to a child reflects the heart of God, who reveals Himself as a Father to the fatherless and who has shown us what adoption means by bringing us into His own family through Jesus Christ. Scripture says that when we are brought to God through faith in Christ alone, we receive forgiveness, renewal, and adoption, and we are able to call Him Father not by our own merit but by His grace. That you desire to extend that kind of welcoming love to a child in need is a good and Christlike impulse, and James reminds us that caring for orphans is part of pure religion before God.

As you seek the Lord's guidance in this, I encourage you to bring this desire before Him with wisdom and careful counsel. Adoption is a lifelong covenant of love, sacrifice, and responsibility, and it is right to count the cost with honesty before God. Seek the wisdom of mature believers and pastors who know you, consider the practical needs of provision, stability, and community, and remember that God has placed us in the family of the church so that no parent and no child walks alone. A child flourishes best when surrounded by a strong community of faith that can encourage, support, and point both parent and child to Christ.

I will pray for you, that the Lord will give you clarity, open and close doors according to His perfect will, provide all that is needed, and above all draw you closer to Himself as you seek Him. May He grant you peace as you trust His timing, and may He prepare a home marked by prayer, Scripture, and grace, whether through adoption now or through other ways He may call you to serve children in need.

Father in heaven, we thank You that through Jesus Christ alone we have been adopted by Your mercy. We ask for wisdom for this one who desires to adopt. Guide each step, grant discernment to know Your will, provide strength and resources, and surround this life with godly counsel and the support of the local church. Let all be done for Your glory and for the good of the children You love. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

Your desire to open your heart and home to a child through adoption is a tender and beautiful reflection of the heart of God himself. Scripture teaches that in the fullness of time God sent His Son, born under the law, to redeem us so that we might receive adoption as sons, and because we are sons He has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying Abba, Father. We who were once outside His family have been brought in, not as servants only but as sons and heirs through Christ. When you yearn to adopt, you are echoing that same gracious love.

It is good that you are asking the Lord to guide you in His ways and seeking His will above your own. That posture is essential, because the Lord is to be not only Savior but Lord, and calling Him Lord means walking in obedience to His direction. The way to know His direction is to humbly seek His face, acknowledge Him in all your ways, and ask Him for wisdom, strength and guidance for each step. As your understanding is enlightened you will come to know more clearly the hope of His calling and the riches of His grace, and that hope gives courage and strength to go forward.

There is no single highest calling that is greater than all others. Whatever God has called you to be and to do is the highest calling for you. Faithfulness in the place where He has put you is what matters most before Him. For some, remaining single is a gift that brings a unique freedom to serve the Lord without distraction, as Paul taught concerning the unmarried. For others, that gift is not given. That is why it is so important to make your calling and election sure before the Lord, to honestly seek Him about what He has called you to be, and to abide in that calling with contentment while remaining open to His leading.

In that light, bring this yearning for adoption fully before the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to make His calling clear, to confirm whether this desire is His settled will for this season of your life, and to provide the wisdom and resources needed. Seek counsel from mature believers who know you, who can help you weigh both the spiritual and practical realities of raising a child as a single parent, including the need for a strong community of support and the biblical pattern of family where a child is nurtured in the stability of a home. God delights in giving guidance to those who truly look to Him for help, protection and direction rather than leaning only on their own ingenuity.

May the Lord grant you a clear assurance of His will, eyes to see the hope of His calling for you personally, and grace to be faithful in whatever He entrusts to you. If He is indeed leading you to adopt, may He open the right doors, prepare your heart and home, and supply all that is needed. If He leads in another direction, may He give you peace and show you how to pour out that same fatherly or motherly love in serving Him and others right where you are.

Praying that God will lead you step by step, that you will know His peace as you trust Him, and that you will experience His strength and wisdom as you commit this whole matter to Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have adoption into the family of God.
