🙏 Leaders in Body Enjoy Lives of Prayer, Study, Humility, Protection from Falsehood, Teach Sound Doctrine, Evangelism, Discipleship, House Visits...

Your prayer for the shepherds of Christ's flock and for the drawing of your own household to the saving knowledge of God is indeed a petition that accords with His will, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Yet while you lift up such requests, take heed lest you neglect the very things you ask for others. For the Apostle commands that those who labor in the word and doctrine be honored above all, for if this gift be wanting, many things in the Church go to ruin. A bishop or elder must be apt to teach, not merely by an honest life, but by careful study and sound instruction, that he may both save himself and those who hear him. The church is as a small household: if a man cannot rule his own house well, how shall he care for the church of God? Therefore pray for such men, but also examine yourself.

You ask that your family be drawn to the assembly, that their minds be opened to understand the Scriptures, that they receive faith and repentance. This is a holy desire, for without acquaintance with Scripture and the upholding of sound doctrines there is never any salvation. Yet see that you yourself are not negligent in hearing and doing, in little things and in great, both in the church and at home. For many are quick to pray for others while their own ears remain dull to the word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God; so let there be in you a hunger for the word, a daily devotion to the reading and exhortation that the Spirit may anoint you and your house.

Remember that Christ Himself prayed for Peter, not because He needed to, but condescending to our weakness, that we might learn how to brace up shaken souls. He has built His Church upon the rock of faith, and the gates of death shall not prevail against it. The bonds of death were loosed, sin taken away, and the curse abolished by the cross; this is the chief point of the salvation wrought for us. Therefore when you pray for your household, do not grow faint, but with all gravity and humility continue in intercession, and at the same time let your own life be a pattern of the doctrines you desire them to embrace. For a wife and children and servants will more easily be won by a living epistle than by any number of words, if your speech is attended by meekness and good works.

Yet do not neglect the spoken word, for it is the primary means by which the Spirit convicts and converts. Therefore do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together, as is the manner of some, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Let no one say, "I will pray at home, I need no teacher," for the Spirit gives gifts to the Church for her perfection. Go to the Lord's house, hear the message of the Crucified, and as you eat the bread and drink the cup, do so not seldomly or when it chances, but in remembrance of Him who died for the life of the world. And as you pray for leaders, so also pray for yourself, that you may have a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that the word of Christ may dwell in you richly. Thus both he who teaches and he who hears will share in the salvation that is by faith, and the evil one, who loves lack of knowledge, will find no foothold.

I hear the deep longing in your prayer, and I am stirred by your fervent desire to see the Spirit move among the leaders of the church and within your own family. What you have poured out is not mere sentiment; it is the kind of cry that God delights to answer. So let me encourage you: do not let your heart remain only a longing. Turn every ache for your loved ones into the substance of prayer. The faith they need to believe in Jesus Christ is not something they can manufacture, it is a gift from God. By grace we are saved through faith, and that faith is not of ourselves. When you ask the Father to draw them, to grant them repentance and open their minds to understand Scripture, you are asking for exactly what He loves to give. So pray on.

The impulse you have to intercede for the church, for its leaders to be rooted in the Word and prayer, is deeply right. A church that walks in the power of the Spirit is a church that prays without ceasing. So many are tempted to trust in schemes and human effort, but the early believers had no such illusions. They knew the Holy Spirit was the one building the body, equipping the saints, and adding to their number daily. May our fellowship never drift from that reality, and may you never grow weary of lifting up those who teach and shepherd, that they would remain humble, protected from falsehood, and devoted to the Word.

For your family members who have not yet come to faith, keep bringing them before the throne. I have seen believers pray night and day for their households, and I firmly believe we are to trust God for their salvation. Do not be discouraged if the answer seems delayed. Faith can waver even in the most seasoned hearts, a great man of faith once hid in a cave from a threat, yet God did not abandon him. If your own faith feels weak at times, remember that Jesus Himself prayed that our faith would not fail. Your prayer for them is an act of love, and as Scripture reminds us, anyone who does not care for his own household has denied the faith. Caring for their souls is the highest expression of that duty.

I also notice the thread of protection running through your request, that they would be kept from the evil one and from a famine of God’s Word. Keep praying that the Lord would guard them from every path that leads to grief. The enemy loves a lack of knowledge, but our Father reveals the Son to whomever He wills. Ask boldly that the Holy Spirit would convict, teach, and lead them into all truth. That is a prayer He will surely honor.

So let me say again: do not just carry a burden; turn it into persistent, believing prayer. Gather with others who will agree with you. The church needs men and women who will plead for the lost and who will contend for the faith of those they love. You are already doing this. Now continue, and watch for the day when the message of Christ crucified becomes for them not just words but life. For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. That is the hope we hold out to our families. May the Lord make your faith effectual and cause the Word to sound out from your life into theirs, until they too are found waiting for His Son from heaven.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer for the spiritual vitality and protection of our church leaders and the families within the body of Christ. It has been our joy to lift up these heartfelt requests before our Heavenly Father, asking Him to strengthen our leaders in lives of prayer, study, humility, and sound teaching. We have prayed fervently that they would be equipped to disciple, evangelize, and visit households with the love and truth of the Gospel, that God’s house would truly become a house of prayer for all nations.

We have also interceded for the families in our midst, asking the Lord to draw them closer to Himself, to open their hearts to the revelation of Jesus Christ, and to protect them from deception and spiritual apathy. Our prayers have been that they would hunger for the Word, experience the convicting and converting power of the Holy Spirit, and grow in unity, knowledge, and maturity in Christ. We have asked the Father to grant them faith to receive His promises and to move in the authority of Jesus’ name as they seek Him.

If the Lord has already answered these prayers in ways you’ve seen or experienced, we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report! Please share how God has been at work so we may rejoice together. If the answers seem delayed or unseen, we encourage you to post this request again so we may continue to stand with you in agreement before the throne of grace. Our hearts remain steadfast in prayer, trusting that the Lord who began this good work will bring it to completion in His perfect timing.

May God richly bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that His Spirit would fill you with wisdom, revelation, and boldness to walk in the fullness of His calling. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
