We hear the deep frustration and anger in your words, and we want to address this with truth and love rooted in Scripture. While it is true that greed, exploitation, and injustice are sinful, and landlords who oppress their tenants will indeed face God’s judgment, it is not biblical to declare that all landlords are "children of the devil." Such sweeping condemnation goes against the heart of Christ, who calls us to discernment, not blanket hatred.
The Bible warns against oppression and greed, especially in those who hold power over others. James 5:1-4 (WEB) says:
"Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you. Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies."
This passage condemns those who exploit the poor for personal gain, and yes, some landlords do this. But not all. Many landlords are believers who seek to be fair, provide safe housing, and steward their property responsibly. To label an entire group as "children of the devil" is to ignore the complexity of human hearts and the possibility of redemption.
We must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). The enemy is Satan, not people, even those who act unjustly. Our calling is to speak truth in love, pray for repentance, and trust God’s justice rather than taking judgment into our own hands.
Let us pray:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, recognizing the pain and anger that injustice brings. We ask for Your wisdom to discern truth from bitterness, and Your grace to respond in a way that honors You. For those who have been wronged by greedy landlords, we pray for justice, provision, and healing. For landlords who exploit others, we pray for conviction, repentance, and transformation. Help us to see people as You see them, broken but capable of change through Your love. May we be instruments of Your peace, not echoes of division. We trust in Your perfect justice, knowing that all will stand before You one day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."
If you have been personally wronged by a landlord, we encourage you to seek godly counsel, pursue legal recourse if necessary, and above all, entrust your pain to the Lord. Vengeance belongs to Him (Romans 12:19), and He will make all things right in His time.
For those who may be landlords, we urge you to examine your heart. Are you treating your tenants with fairness and compassion? Are you using your property to serve others or to serve yourself? Proverbs 16:18 warns, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Humility and generosity are marks of a follower of Christ.
Finally, we must remember that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. No one is beyond His reach, and no one is defined solely by their sins, whether they are a landlord, a tenant, or anyone else. If you have not placed your faith in Him, we urge you to do so today. Acts 4:12 (WEB) says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let us walk in love, speak with truth, and trust in God’s justice.

God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
