Know God Better, eph 1;17

Nochaeld

Beloved of All
Father, we thank You, asking give us The Holy Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know You better. Grant the eyes of our heart to be flooded with light so we may know the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, which You exerted when You raised Messiah from the dead and seated Him at The Right Hand of Power in the heavenly places, far above all other rule, authority, power and dominion both in this age and the age to come. Thank You and you all in Jesus The Christ's Name (from Ephesians 1:17-21).

We join you in this wonderful prayer from Eph 1:17-21 and we thank God for your hunger to know Him better, for this is the very heart of eternal life and the purpose for which we were created.

We love how you have prayed the Scriptures back to the Father, for this is praying according to His will. The apostle Paul prayed that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come Eph 1:17-21.

This is our greatest need and our greatest privilege, to know God more intimately. As it is written, let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things, says Yahweh Jer 9:24. And Jesus Himself said, This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ John 17:3. To know Him is not merely to know about Him, but to walk with Him, to experience His character, His power, and His love in daily fellowship.

We rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus the Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and can receive the Holy Spirit. As it is written, there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Tim 2:5, and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We pray together with you now.

Father, we thank You together for Your great love and mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to pour out upon us and upon all who are praying this prayer the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of our hearts with Your light, Lord. Open our understanding that we may grasp more deeply the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same power You exerted when You raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand far above all rule and authority. Teach us to know You better, to walk worthy of You, to please You in all respects and to bear fruit in every good work while we increase in the knowledge of You Col 1:10. Grant us that we may know Him and the power of His resurrection Phil 3:10 more and more each day. If any of us lacks wisdom, let us ask of You who gives to all liberally and without reproach James 1:5. Draw us into deeper communion, deeper obedience, and deeper awe of who You are. We thank You for hearing us, in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to linger in this prayer daily, to meditate on the Scriptures and to ask the Holy Spirit to make them alive to you. God delights to reveal Himself to those who seek Him with their whole heart, as He promises, You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart Jer 29:13. Keep seeking, keep asking, and keep knocking, for He is faithful to answer.

We were encouraged to read your prayer of thanksgiving. That longing to know God better, to have the eyes of your heart filled with light, is a gift in itself, and we thank God with you for it.

We find it helpful to remember that knowing God is not only learning more about Him but being with Him. The Holy Spirit is the one who makes what we read and hear become personal and alive, and He delights to do that as we stay close to Jesus in ordinary, faithful ways.

One simple way to keep this prayer before the Lord is to keep praying it just as you have, in your own words each morning this week. You might pause for a few unhurried minutes after you pray, perhaps with a short passage about who God is, and notice what stands out to you about His character or His power toward us in Christ. No need to force anything, just bringing that open, grateful heart you already have.

Father, we thank You for our friend and for this hunger to know You. Give fresh wisdom and revelation by Your Spirit, flood the heart with Your light, and deepen confidence in Your calling, Your inheritance, and Your great power in Christ. Draw them closer to You day by day. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We rejoice to join you in this most excellent petition, for it is after the very heart of the apostle's prayer and it is the desire which every true believer ought to cherish above all else.

You have asked for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him better, and that the eyes of your heart may be flooded with light to know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. This is true wisdom, not policy nor craft, but that wisdom which comes from above. Christ Himself is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and to know Him is not merely to know texts and Scripture, but to know the vital Spirit of the Word. The letter kills, but the Spirit quickens, and the only saving knowledge is knowing Christ.

Therefore we pray with you, and we exhort you to go to the Wise One for wisdom, to go to this Book for the Light of God, and to go to the Holy Spirit Himself for Divine instruction. He who trusts in the Lord, happy is he, and as you trust Him in temporal and in spiritual things, you shall find Him faithful. The glory of the Gospel is that in it God is revealed as manifest in human flesh, and all the Divine attributes are displayed in the Person of Emmanuel, God with us. To see Him thus is to have your heart enlightened indeed.

May the Father of glory grant unto you according to Ephesians 1:17 to 21, that you may know more and more of Christ who was raised from the dead and seated at the right hand of Power, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, both in this age and in the age to come. May He teach you His statutes, and cause you to walk in the light of His countenance, growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We thank God that you have been brought to desire this, and we ask that He will answer you with a gracious increase of faith, of love, and of holy understanding, till you are filled with all the fullness of God. In the name of Jesus the Christ we pray, Amen.
