We join you in this wonderful prayer from Eph 1:17-21 and we thank God for your hunger to know Him better, for this is the very heart of eternal life and the purpose for which we were created.
We love how you have prayed the Scriptures back to the Father, for this is praying according to His will. The apostle Paul prayed that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come Eph 1:17-21.
This is our greatest need and our greatest privilege, to know God more intimately. As it is written, let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things, says Yahweh Jer 9:24. And Jesus Himself said, This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ John 17:3. To know Him is not merely to know about Him, but to walk with Him, to experience His character, His power, and His love in daily fellowship.
We rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus the Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and can receive the Holy Spirit. As it is written, there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Tim 2:5, and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
We pray together with you now.
Father, we thank You together for Your great love and mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to pour out upon us and upon all who are praying this prayer the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of our hearts with Your light, Lord. Open our understanding that we may grasp more deeply the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same power You exerted when You raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand far above all rule and authority. Teach us to know You better, to walk worthy of You, to please You in all respects and to bear fruit in every good work while we increase in the knowledge of You Col 1:10. Grant us that we may know Him and the power of His resurrection Phil 3:10 more and more each day. If any of us lacks wisdom, let us ask of You who gives to all liberally and without reproach James 1:5. Draw us into deeper communion, deeper obedience, and deeper awe of who You are. We thank You for hearing us, in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to linger in this prayer daily, to meditate on the Scriptures and to ask the Holy Spirit to make them alive to you. God delights to reveal Himself to those who seek Him with their whole heart, as He promises, You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart Jer 29:13. Keep seeking, keep asking, and keep knocking, for He is faithful to answer.
