We join with you in this beautiful prayer from Ephesians 1:17-21 and we say amen to your request for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know the Father better.
We rejoice that your heart longs to know God, for this is the greatest pursuit of our lives. As it is written in Jeremiah 9:24, let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things, says Yahweh. And Jesus said in John 17:3, This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. To know Him is not merely to know about Him, but to have intimate fellowship with Him by His Spirit.
We thank the Father with you that He has already given us His Holy Spirit, for as it is written in 1 Corinthians 2:12, we did not receive the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God. It is the Holy Spirit who enlightens the eyes of our heart, as you prayed in Ephesians 1:18, that we may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of His might which He worked in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and made Him to sit at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come, Ephesians 1:18-21.
We pray together now, Father, we thank You in the name of Jesus the Christ for Your great love and for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. We ask You to pour out upon us and upon the one who submitted this request the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of our hearts with Your light, that we may truly comprehend the hope to which You have called us, the glorious riches of Your inheritance among Your holy people, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same power You exerted when You raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places. Help us to walk in that resurrection power daily, to live with confidence and holiness, and to make Your name known. Draw us deeper into Your Word, for You have promised in James 1:5 that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given. Increase our hunger to know You, to love You, and to obey You, that our lives may glorify Your Son. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our access to Your throne, amen.
