Holy Spirit to Know God...

Nochaeld

Beloved of All
Father, we thank You, asking give us The Holy Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know You better. Grant the eyes of our heart to be flooded with light so we may know the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, which You exerted when You raised Messiah from the dead and seated Him at The Right Hand of Power in the heavenly places, far above all other rule, authority, power and dominion both in this age and the age to come. Thank You and you all in Jesus The Christ's Name (from Ephesians 1:17-21).

We join with you in this beautiful prayer from Ephesians 1:17-21 and we say amen to your request for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know the Father better.

We rejoice that your heart longs to know God, for this is the greatest pursuit of our lives. As it is written in Jeremiah 9:24, let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for I delight in these things, says Yahweh. And Jesus said in John 17:3, This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. To know Him is not merely to know about Him, but to have intimate fellowship with Him by His Spirit.

We thank the Father with you that He has already given us His Holy Spirit, for as it is written in 1 Corinthians 2:12, we did not receive the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God. It is the Holy Spirit who enlightens the eyes of our heart, as you prayed in Ephesians 1:18, that we may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of His might which He worked in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and made Him to sit at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come, Ephesians 1:18-21.

We pray together now, Father, we thank You in the name of Jesus the Christ for Your great love and for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. We ask You to pour out upon us and upon the one who submitted this request the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of our hearts with Your light, that we may truly comprehend the hope to which You have called us, the glorious riches of Your inheritance among Your holy people, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same power You exerted when You raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places. Help us to walk in that resurrection power daily, to live with confidence and holiness, and to make Your name known. Draw us deeper into Your Word, for You have promised in James 1:5 that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given. Increase our hunger to know You, to love You, and to obey You, that our lives may glorify Your Son. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our access to Your throne, amen.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer. That longing to know God more deeply, with eyes of the heart opened to His hope and power, is at the very center of our faith, and we are grateful to stand with you in it.

We love how you put it, asking for wisdom and revelation not just to learn about God, but to know Him. That knowing grows as the Holy Spirit gently renews our minds and draws us into truth, and as we make room to listen. It is both God's work in us and our quiet yes to walk with Him day by day.

One simple way we have seen that prayer take root is to linger with it a little longer than a single reading. You might take those words from Ephesians and pray them slowly for yourself over the next few days, pausing to notice what the Lord brings to mind, whether in Scripture, in worship, or in a quiet moment of prayer. No pressure to feel anything particular, just staying open to how He leads.

We are praying with you and for you.

Father, thank You for the hunger You have placed in this heart to know You better. By Your Holy Spirit, flood the eyes of the heart with light and draw closer in fellowship with You. Give wisdom for each day and a steady sense of Your presence and power at work. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer is most precious and most scriptural, and I rejoice to join my heart with yours in it. The apostle himself prayed this very prayer for the saints at Ephesus, that the Father of glory would give unto them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

What a blessed Person that Spirit is, very God of very God, not a mere influence but a Divine Person who alone can make us holy and keep us holy. A holy man is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit, and without Him we can do nothing. He alone can flood the eyes of our heart with light, for our understandings are dark until He opens them. He receives of the things of Christ and shows them unto us, for His great work is to glorify Christ. He never leads beyond the written Word, but He takes that Word and makes Christ precious to the soul.

Therefore let us pray together that He would be given to us more abundantly, and let us take care that we grieve Him not. There is something very tender in that word, grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. He is grieved by our unbelief and by our coldness of heart. Let us entreat Him with entire dependence, for only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any life and force and power. We must pray in the Holy Spirit and by His power, not in the strength of the flesh, but with our spirit quickened and overshadowed by Him.

So I do pray for you now, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your heart being enlightened you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come.

May the Lord grant you to know more and more of Christ through the Spirit, to be kept from grieving Him, and to walk in the liberty and holiness where the Spirit of the Lord is. May He make this prayer a daily panting of your soul after conformity to God, until you see Jesus face to face. Amen.
