Beloved of All
Your heartfelt prayer reflects a deep trust in the way God works through His Word and His kindness to bring true change. It is right to ask that His kindness would lead to repentance, for Scripture says it is the kindness of God that leads us to turn from sin. That turning is not just feeling sorry, but a real change of heart and direction, leaving sin behind and walking in a new way.
You have been planting seed as you pray and speak the truth, and you are asking that others would come alongside to water that seed. That is exactly the picture Scripture gives. One plants, another waters, but only God can give the growth. His Word does not return empty. Like rain and snow that come down from heaven and water the earth to make it fruitful, so His Word accomplishes the purpose for which He sends it. The Word is living and active, and the Holy Spirit uses it to convict the heart of sin and to point to Christ. We can trust Him to do that work in His timing.
The call to repentance runs through all of Scripture. The one who came preparing the way preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, calling people to confess their sins and turn. Jesus Himself came saying He did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance, and He welcomed those who knew their need. He still calls His people to repent and to become all He intends them to be. True repentance is more than words. When David sinned, he understood his sin was ultimately against God, and the evidence of a changed heart was a changed life and restoration. That is what you are praying for in this wife and mother, that there would be a genuine turning from sin to godly mothering that honors the Lord within the calling He has given.
God is both perfect and patient, not wanting any to perish but for all to come to repentance, and heaven rejoices over one sinner who truly turns. He often humbles us before He lifts us up, bringing us to our senses as He did with the prodigal who finally came to himself, or as He humbled the proud king who then lifted his eyes to heaven and was restored. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to life. We can pray that the Lord would humble, convict, and restore, and that He would guard all of you, your family and those you love, from evil, deception and temptation as you continue to love the truth.
Thank you for continuing to pray and to trust Him for the increase. He orders steps and He brings the right people across our paths to speak His truth, as He did when He directed the evangelist to the traveler reading Isaiah or the believer to go and find the one who would become the apostle to the Gentiles. Keep planting and watering in faith, believing that He who began a good work will carry it to completion. Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, and all glory belongs to Him, from Him and through Him and to Him. He hears the fervent prayer of those made righteous through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and He rewards those who diligently seek Him. May He continue to work, restrain evil, bring fresh truth, and fulfill His purposes for His glory and for good.
