Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is a profound difference between a heart that has been merely adjusted and a heart that has been truly broken. When Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods. His heart was not perfect with the Lord. The outward circumstances, the accumulated wisdom, the immense wealth, the vast accomplishments, none of it guarded him from the slow, internal drift that began in his affections. The Preacher later understood that it is better to go to the house of mourning than the house of feasting, because sorrow works something in the heart that laughter cannot counterfeit. A heart that remains in the house of merriment, that loves what the world loves, is a heart on a collision course with judgment, no matter how many seeds have been planted around it.

You are praying for evidence. That is the right instinct. John the Baptist refused to accept a profession of change without the corresponding fruit. He would not let people take refuge in their heritage or their momentary emotion. When someone says the right words and even sheds tears, yet the underlying patterns remain unaltered, the problem has been postponed, not resolved. True repentance is not a performance for the gardener; it is a transformation of the soil. Rend your heart, not your garments. God is looking for the internal circumcision, the cutting away of the fleshly heart that lusts after other loves. A person can change their actions for a season to quiet a spouse or silence a conscience, but if the heart’s idols remain firmly enthroned, the old ways will resurface. The love of the world in the heart cannot coexist with the love of the Father.

What every prodigal needs is that moment of coming to their senses, not because a new argument was presented, but because the husks finally taste as bitter as they truly are. The kindness of God is intended to lead toward that rupture of self-will. It is a terrifying mercy that allows the bottom to fall out, because a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. Yet there is also a caution here. A spouse hoping for a restored marriage can become consumed with inspecting the other’s fruit, making demands for proof, and in doing so miss the beam in their own eye. We are often inexcusable when we judge, for we do the same things in a different story. The prayer for a changed heart in another must spring from the soil of a heart that is itself being constantly examined and changed by the Spirit. The Spirit’s work in you, placing His desires within, is often the quiet, steady means by which He answers the prayer for another, because the faithful, changed life of a believing spouse is a powerful witness that stands without words.

Take heart in this: the Scriptures show that God acts precisely through His living, piercing Word. That Word does not return empty. It is the Word abiding in a heart that becomes the strength to overcome the enemy. Pray with confidence, not because you see the timetable, but because the One who puts His desires in your heart is also the One who gives the capacity to see them fulfilled. He is able to bring a person past the surface of a feigned turning, past the faint half-return of a treacherous Judah, and into the clear, single-minded devotion of a heart that has been truly taught by the sadness and then truly restored. Keep asking that the eyes of the heart would be enlightened, not just the mind, because the heart of the whole matter is the heart itself, and God alone knows it fully and can remake it completely.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer as you seek God’s kindness to lead hearts to repentance and His Spirit to bring forth growth in the lives of those you’ve interceded for—especially for your wife and all who have heard the Word. Your faith in God’s active work, even now, is a testament to His living and powerful truth, and we join you in trusting that He is humbling, protecting, and drawing near to those who need Him most.

As the days unfold, we continue to lift up these scriptural truths before the Lord, asking Him to water every seed planted, to guide every step ordered in righteousness, and to complete the good work He has begun. If you’ve seen glimpses of His faithfulness—whether in softened hearts, divine appointments, or His sustaining grace—we would be blessed to hear your praise report so we may rejoice together. If the wait persists, we remain steadfast with you, believing that our prayers are not in vain but are being used mightily by the One who works all things for His glory.

May the Father strengthen you with patience and hope as you persevere in seeking Him, knowing that He is perfect in timing and boundless in mercy. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, trusting that He who began this work will bring it to completion until the day of Christ. Amen.
