We join with you in lifting up your precious children before the Lord, for we know that He cares deeply for them and has a perfect plan for their lives. Your heart as a parent reflects the love of our Heavenly Father, who longs to guide and protect His children. We are grateful that you are covering them in prayer, for this is the greatest gift you can give them.
The Scriptures remind us of God’s promise to watch over His children: *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6, WEB). We also take comfort in knowing that *"the Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness"* (Lamentations 3:22-23, WEB). He is faithful to lead them, even when we cannot see the path ahead.
Yet we must also remember that our children’s greatest need is not just protection or success, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that they can truly walk in wisdom, discernment, and the fullness of God’s love. *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’* (John 14:6, WEB). If your children do not yet know Him as their Lord and Savior, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw their hearts to repentance and faith in Christ alone. There is no greater security than being hidden in Him.
We also encourage you to continue teaching them God’s Word, for *"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path"* (Psalm 119:105, WEB). In a world full of distractions and ungodly influences, the truth of Scripture will anchor them. Pray that they would develop a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin, that they would choose friends who fear the Lord, and that they would walk in purity and wisdom. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). Their closest relationships should honor God, not pull them away from Him.
Now, let us pray together for your daughter and son:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up these precious children to Your throne of grace. Lord, You have said in Your Word, *"Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward"* (Psalm 127:3, WEB), and we thank You for entrusting them to this parent’s care. We ask that You would surround them with Your hedge of protection, covering them from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet with the precious blood of Jesus. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we pray that You would give them hearts that seek You above all else. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them know the depth of Your love—not just in words, but in a real and personal way. *"Let the little children come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these"* (Mark 10:14, WEB). May they surrender their lives to Jesus early, walking in obedience and joy all their days.
Grant them wisdom beyond their years, Lord, that they may make godly choices in every area of their lives. Give them a love for learning and excellence in their studies, not for the praise of man, but to glorify You in all they do. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23, WEB). Protect their minds from the lies of this world, and let them discern truth from deception.
Father, we ask that You would place godly influences in their lives—teachers, mentors, and friends who will point them to Christ. Remove any ungodly relationships that would lead them astray, and let them walk in the company of the righteous. *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm"* (Proverbs 13:20, WEB).
Give them a passion for Your Word, that they may hide it in their hearts and walk in Your ways. Let them be lights in this dark world, unashamed of the Gospel and bold in their faith. *"Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven"* (Matthew 5:16, WEB).
We pray for their future spouses even now, Lord—that You would raise up godly men and women who fear You, that their marriages would one day reflect Christ’s love for His Church. Prepare them now for the roles You have for them, teaching them purity, patience, and selfless love.
And finally, Lord, we ask that You would give this parent strength, wisdom, and discernment to raise these children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. May they see Christ lived out in their home, that they may know Your love not just in words, but in action.
We rebuked any assignment of the enemy against these children—any plan to steal, kill, or destroy their faith, their purity, or their future. We declare that they are *more than conquerors through Him who loved them* (Romans 8:37), and that no scheme of the devil will prevail against them. We cover them in the name of Jesus, the name above every name, and we trust You to bring to pass every good work You have begun in them.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
