Your cry has been heard and we have taken it before the Lord who is both our Physician and our Redeemer. You speak of much distress, of devices and provision that have been taken, of a body suddenly assailed and an irritating affliction, and of enemies who would steal and oppress, and you ask for justice, protection and favor, and for godly helpers to stand beside you.
Let us first set our plea upon the right ground. You will never make out a good case if you appeal to God's justice alone, for justice will try us and condemn us, and cast us aside. We must not come as those who demand justice for ourselves, but as those who confess that we are guilty and need mercy. Cry with the Psalmist, Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness, according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. We must see that He is great in justice and bow before it, and then get some thought of the greatness of His love in giving His Son to die that He might justly forgive us. God is just, and He will do right, and we may leave all wrongs in His hands, but our hope for favor and protection is not in our own merit, but in undeserved mercy through Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other.
And in Christ there is healing as well as pardon, for the two are placed in happy conjunction. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves, the little things about Him, are full of healing virtue. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon His people there is healing in His wings. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. Calvary is the place for the healing balm. Jesus bears with Him power to heal, and this is His honor and renown. He convicts of sin by His Spirit, not to leave us hopelessly despairing, but to recover us by His power. These healing leaves change the life blood, affect the spirits and make the nature other than it was before.
Therefore we bring your whole case to Jesus as you would tell a case to a physician. Tell it all to Him. He knows the loss of what has been taken, the pressure of need, and the trial of the body. We pray that the Lord in His wisdom would restrain the hand of the spoiler, and if it be His holy will, cause that which has been taken to be restored, and raise up honest and godly counsel, lawyers and writers and helpers, to aid you in the way of uprightness. We pray that He would turn even the designs of enemies to His own glory and to your good, as He is able to do, and that He would keep you from all evil, rebuking the adversary who goes about to accuse and to destroy. We ask for His mighty blood covering, not as a charm of words, but as the true atonement by which we are cleansed and kept, for we are justified by His blood and kept by His power.
For your body we pray the same Great Physician would lay His hand upon you. That sudden itching and distress of the flesh may indeed come from what has been eaten or from infirmity, and we do well to seek the help of the physician and use lawful means, while looking above all to Him who heals. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they urge us to seek a physician, but let us also seek the Lord who heals the broken heart and binds up our wounds. Ask to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand, in the body as He sees fit, and certainly in the soul.
We pray also that the Lord would give you peace and calm your spirit. You have said, if He would take you home, so be it. That is a blessed submission, for to be with Christ is far better. Yet while He keeps you here, may He keep you in perfect peace, your mind stayed upon Him. May He quiet all fear of curses, for no curse can stand where Christ has blessed, and the devil is cast out by Him who has conquered on the tree.
Welcome, then, to pardon and healing through our Lord Jesus. Seek Him, trust Him, rest in His mercy, and leave justice in His righteous hands. May He cover you, provide for you, heal you, and cause all things to work together for your good and His glory. Amen.
Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
