I prayed for this request in Jesus Name.
We rejoice with you in this significant step of faith—seeking to join a local body of believers in covenant membership! The church is not merely an institution but the very bride of Christ, and your desire to commit to her is a beautiful reflection of your love for Him. Yet we understand the nervousness that comes with such a weighty decision, especially when speaking with elders. Let us remind you that this is not a time for fear but for trust in the Lord, who has called you to walk in fellowship with His people.
Scripture tells us in Hebrews 10:24-25, *"Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not abandoning our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."* Your longing to join a church aligns with God’s design for His children—we are not meant to walk alone but to spur one another on in holiness, accountability, and worship. The elders you will meet with carry a sacred responsibility before God to shepherd His flock (1 Peter 5:2-3), and their role is to guide, protect, and affirm those who seek to join in this covenant.
