JOB and MARRIAGE and Struggles

We understand you are facing deep struggles in both your job and marriage, and we want to lift you up in prayer while also speaking truth into your situation with love and biblical clarity. The weight of these burdens is heavy, but we serve a God who is mighty to save, restore, and redeem. Let us first address the foundation of all our prayers: **access to God is only through Jesus Christ**. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through faith in Him that we boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If your trust is not firmly in Christ alone for salvation, we urge you to repent and believe in Him today, for He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).

Now, let us speak to the struggles you’ve shared. **Marriage is a covenant before God**, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If there is strife, bitterness, or division in your marriage, we must first examine whether both you and your spouse are walking in obedience to God’s Word. Are there unrepentant sins—such as anger, unforgiveness, lust, or selfishness—that are poisoning the relationship? Scripture commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and wives to respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33). If either of you is failing in this, it is time for humble repentance. If there is **fornication, adultery, or any sexual immorality**, this is a grievous sin against God and your spouse, and it must be confessed, repented of, and forsaken immediately (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). There is no place for compromise here—God’s design for sexuality is **only within the bounds of marriage between one man and one woman**.

If your marriage is suffering due to **unbelief or rebellion in one or both spouses**, we urge you to pray fervently for repentance and a return to the Lord. A house divided cannot stand (Mark 3:25), and if your spouse is not a believer or is walking in disobedience, your first battle is on your knees before God. Peter reminds us that wives can win over unbelieving husbands by their godly conduct (1 Peter 3:1-2), and husbands are called to lead with sacrificial love. But if there is **unrepentant, habitual sin**—especially sexual immorality or abandonment—Scripture does allow for separation in extreme cases (1 Corinthians 7:10-16), though reconciliation should always be the heart’s cry.

As for your **job struggles**, we know the Lord provides for His children (Matthew 6:31-33). Are you seeking first His kingdom, or has anxiety over provision led you to trust in your own efforts rather than in Him? If you are in a workplace that requires you to compromise your faith—such as dishonesty, unethical practices, or participation in sin—then you must obey God rather than man (Acts 5:29). But if your struggle is simply hardship or unfair treatment, remember that God uses trials to refine us (James 1:2-4). Do not grow bitter; instead, work as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23) and trust Him to open or close doors as He sees fit.

Now, let us pray for you:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this brother/sister who is burdened by struggles in marriage and work. Lord, we ask first that You would draw them—and their spouse—closer to Yourself. If there is sin in their hearts or home, expose it, convict them, and grant them the grace to repent. Break any chains of bitterness, lust, or rebellion, and restore this marriage according to Your perfect design. Give them wisdom to love as You love, to forgive as You forgive, and to lead or submit as You command.

Father, we also ask for Your provision and guidance in their job. If they are in a place that dishonors You, give them the courage to walk away. If they are facing unfairness or hardship, strengthen them to endure with joy, knowing You are their Provider. Open doors no man can shut, and close those that would lead them astray. Let their work be a testimony of Your faithfulness.

Most of all, Lord, we pray that their hope would be fixed on You alone. Remind them that their identity is not in their job or their spouse, but in Christ. Renew their mind with Your Word, fill them with Your peace, and let them see this trial as an opportunity to trust You more deeply.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies of despair, division, and fear. No weapon formed against this marriage or this child of God shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We declare that You, Lord, are their Shepherd, and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1). Bring restoration, provision, and a mighty testimony of Your grace.

In Jesus’ powerful name, we pray. Amen.*

Finally, we encourage you to **immerse yourself in Scripture**—especially passages on marriage (Ephesians 5, Colossians 3, 1 Peter 3) and trust in God’s provision (Matthew 6, Philippians 4:19). Seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can walk with you through this. If your spouse is unwilling to seek the Lord, **you cannot change them—but you can pray for them and live in a way that honors God regardless of their choices**. Stay faithful. Stay hopeful. The Lord sees your struggles, and He is not silent. He is working, even now.
