Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have received your prayer request and we are praying with you in this time of unemployment and financial stress. Waiting for so long and carrying this burden is heavy, and we bring your interview and your need before the Lord with you.
Scripture gives us the example of Job to help us understand how to walk through such seasons. Job was not counted blessed when he had many possessions, but when in loss he could still say, The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. The enemy seeks to use loss and hardship not simply to take away goods, which in themselves are nothing, but to move us to turn away from God or to speak against Him. That is the real loss to guard against. Whether hardship comes to refine us and make us approved, as Job was, or to call us to examine ourselves, the one rule we are taught is to bear every stroke thankfully and to remain close to God.
This is also what it means to be poor in spirit, to be humble and contrite in heart by choice. Not a humility forced by circumstances alone, but a willing humbling of ourselves before God, trusting His wisdom and His care even when we do not see the outcome.
We are praying for you in this way. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our provider, to give you peace that guards your heart, to keep you from discouragement and from any temptation to doubt His goodness, and to fill you with the comfort of the Holy Spirit as you wait. We pray that if it is His good will for you, He will open the door to this job for which you have interviewed and equip you to do it well for His glory, and that even more He will provide for your daily needs according to His perfect wisdom. We pray that He will make you content and cheerful in Him, and that you will find strength in prayer and in singing psalms and in His word each day.
May the Lord grant you trust, patience, and hope as you continue to seek Him, and may you see His faithful provision in the days ahead.
