I've been unemployed since ### and this is causing me a lot of stress. I had an interview for a job I'd be really good at last week, as it is exactly what I was doing for ### years. I need prayer for this job to be the one and that I am able to be the right person for it.

We have heard your request and we join with you in bringing this burden before our heavenly Father together in Jesus name. We understand how heavy the stress of unemployment has been since that time, and how much hope you have placed in this recent interview for a job that so closely matches the work you did faithfully for many years. We care about your situation and we want to lift you up before the Lord who sees your need and knows your heart.

The Lord tells us not to carry this anxiety alone. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7 not to be anxious in anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also cling to the promise in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. He knows the financial pressure you feel and He is not distant from it. Philippians 4:19 assures us that our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And in Matthew 6:33 we are taught to seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

We pray that you will commit this job opportunity fully to the Lord, trusting that His will is best whether this is the open door or not. Proverbs 16:3 says commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. We know you have valuable experience and skills built over those years, and Colossians 3:23 reminds us that whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. If this is the position He has prepared for you, we pray He will grant you favor in the eyes of those making the decision and make it clear that you are the right person for it. If He has something else, we trust that He will close this door gently and guide you to the place He has appointed, for we know His plans are for good as spoken in Jeremiah 29:11.

We also want to lovingly point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why this is so important, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 teaches there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To come to God in prayer and to receive His provision and peace, we must come through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him as Lord and Savior. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus today, and to call upon His name in all your prayers.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our brother or sister who has been carrying the weight of unemployment and financial stress. You know how long this season has lasted and You know every need, every bill, and every anxious thought. We ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses understanding upon this dear one and to calm the stress with Your perfect care. Lord, we bring this recent interview before You. You know the details of this job and how it fits the experience You have already given. If it is Your will, we ask that You open this door wide, grant favor, and allow this to be the provision You have prepared. Give confidence and clarity in any next steps and let Your will be done. If this is not the right place, we ask that You make that clear also and lead to the right opportunity in Your perfect timing. Provide for every financial need according to Your riches in glory, and help our friend to seek You first above all else, trusting that You will add all that is needed. Strengthen faith, renew hope, and remind this one that You have not forgotten or forsaken them. We pray for diligence and encouragement to continue seeking and trusting while waiting on You. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only way to You, amen.

We encourage you to keep committing each day and each application to the Lord, to remain diligent and faithful in small things, and to rest in His faithful provision. We have noticed that prolonged pressure without recovery wears people down, so giving yourself regular rhythms of rest, honest conversation with one or two trusted people, and bringing the daily burden to God can help keep you steadier while you wait.

A practical step that may help this week is to handle the waiting with intention. If you haven't already, a brief thank you note to the interviewer, keeping your daily routine and continuing to explore other openings, can keep you from feeling stuck on one outcome while you trust God with the result. If finances feel especially tight, naming the most pressing pressure point and talking it through with a wise counselor or trusted pastor may ease some of the load.

Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus' name. You see his need for provision and meaningful work and the stress he carries. Grant him peace as he waits, wisdom for next steps, and clarity for the employer as well. Open the right door in Your timing and sustain him and his family day by day. Amen.

We have heard your request and we bring it with you to the throne of grace, where our heavenly Father delights to hear the cries of His children.

The weight of unemployment and the pressure of provision is a heavy trial, and it is right and wise that you have turned to the Lord in it. We are reminded of Job, who in all his losses sinned not nor charged God foolishly, but arose and worshipped even while his heart was torn. He bowed before the Lord who had permitted the trial, and he found that God was able to sustain him in it. So may you be upheld, not by your own strength, but by that divine support which kept Job from an unbelieving word.

You have asked for prayer concerning this open door, a work for which your years of experience have fitted you. We will pray that the Lord in His wisdom will guide those who must decide, and that if this place is that which He has appointed for you, He will grant you favour and make your way plain. Yet we pray above all that His will be done, for it is never wise to dispute with God or to demand that it should be according to our mind. His ways are higher and His purpose is gracious. Our longest sorrows have an end when God has gotten His end in them, and He who turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed can turn your captivity also in His perfect time. Remember that Job at the last received more than he had lost, for the Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy, and even in temporals He knows how to provide for His own.

O Lord our God, our Father in heaven, Thou knowest the needs of Thy child who waits upon Thee for daily bread. Thou seest the months without labour, the anxiety of heart, and the interview that has now been granted. We thank Thee that Thou art Jehovah who seest and who providest. We ask Thee to grant peace in this waiting, to keep this dear one from charging Thee foolishly, and to give a calm confidence in Thy fatherly care. If it be Thy good pleasure, open this door of employment and make Thy servant to be indeed the right person for the work, that with honest labour provision may be made and Thy name may be honoured in diligence and integrity. If not this door, then we pray that Thou wilt in Thy love direct to that which Thou hast prepared, and wilt keep the heart fresh and the bow renewed in the hand for whatever Thou appointest. Teach us all to pray one for another as Job prayed for his friends, and to worship Thee whether Thou givest or withholdest, trusting wholly in Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose merit alone we are accepted. Grant contentment, wisdom, and a sure sense of Thy presence day by day.

We commend you to Him who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows, and who has promised that if we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all these things shall be added unto us. Wait upon the Lord and be of good courage, for He will strengthen thine heart.
