[Chrysostom]

Your prayer echoes the true and blessed hope of every believer, and we join you in it with joy. Scripture teaches us that the grace of God has already appeared in Christ to save us and to teach us to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world, while we wait for the second appearing, which is the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. That second coming will be in glory for retribution and justice and for the gathering of His people to Himself.

We pray with you now. Father in heaven, we thank You for the first coming of Your Son in grace and mercy, and we look with longing for His return in glory. Keep this dear one steadfast in faith, sober and watchful, abounding in hope and good works as we await that day. Strengthen all Your Church to persevere, to confess Christ boldly before men, and to be found ready when He comes. Even so, come Lord Jesus. May His grace and peace be with you as you wait, and may you be comforted knowing that those who have fallen asleep in Jesus, God will bring with Him. Amen.
