Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing these burdens so we can bring them before the Lord together.
For your mother, we join you in asking for the Lord's healing hand and sustaining grace. Scripture commands us to honor father and mother, and God sees and values that love and concern you have for her. Jesus showed His power to heal in very personal ways, even healing Peter's mother in law when she lay sick with a fever, and healing many others who were brought to Him. He is still able today, and nothing in our culture or circumstances limits Him. We do not need to go through anyone else to reach Him. When others once told Jesus that His mother and brothers were outside seeking Him, He pointed to a deeper truth, that whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother, and He has opened the way for us to come boldly to the throne of grace through Him alone. So we come directly to Jesus now and ask Him to touch your mother, to ease pain, to restore strength according to His wise and loving will, and to give her and you peace as you trust Him.
For your nephew and his girlfriend, we lift each of them up as individuals made in God's image and loved by Him. Our deepest prayer for them is that each one would know salvation through Jesus Christ alone and would walk in obedience to Him. Jesus taught that the bond we have as those who do the will of God and follow Him becomes the deepest family bond, deeper even than blood ties, and that is the family we most want them to be part of. We pray that God would draw both of them to Himself, give them faith, and lead them to honor Him with their lives and with their relationship. That means pursuing purity and holiness, and reserving the intimacy of living together and sexual union for the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman as God designed it. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but we do ask Him to work in their hearts, to give them wisdom, conviction, and grace to make choices that please Him, and if it is His will, to guide them toward marriage in the right way and time.
For your longing for the return of Jesus, we share that hope with you. Scripture encourages us to watch and long for His coming and to live ready for it. We pray even as Jesus taught us to pray, that the Father's will be done and that many more would come to know Christ before that day. May the Lord keep you hopeful and steadfast as you look for His appearing, and use you to point others to Him while there is still time.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we come boldly to Your throne of grace. We ask for Your mercy and healing for this dear mother, that You would touch her body, comfort her heart, and be near to her family with strength for each day. We lift this young man and young woman to You, asking that You save them, transform them, and teach them to do Your will, guiding their relationship by Your Word and Your Spirit. And Lord Jesus, we long for Your return. Keep us faithful, keep us ready, and help us to share Your gospel with those we love. We trust all of these needs to Your good and perfect will. Amen.
