Jesus, Shepherd Your Sheep Micah 5:4, John 10:16, Jn 21:16, 1 Pet 5:2-4, Rev 7:17; ‍ Remember those in Chains, Hebrews 13:3, Col 4:18... Lord Jesus, thank You that You are The LORD our Shepherd, Ps 23:1-6. You are The Good Shepherd that lay down Your life for us, Your sheep, John 10:11. Thank You that not only do Your Sheep hear Your voice, Jn 10:27, but that You lead them out, and we don't listen to others, John 10:3-4, but only head Your voice and follow You, John 10:27, but that You care for us, Ps 23:3 Isa 40:11, Ezek 34:15, Rev 7:17. Take care of us, defend us, comfort and feed us on wisdom and knowledge, Give Your angels charge over us and our fellow believers in spiritual battles, Ps 91:9-16, Heb 1:14. Strengthen our brothers and sisters, even shepherd the entire flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, help us be on guard for ourselves and the flock of God among us from evil and warped wolves, Acts 20:28-29, by abiding in You and Your teaching, John 15:1-9, studying, obeying and teaching obedience to all Jesus commanded, Matt 28:20. Strengthen us and all in the faith with power and might through the Holy Spirit to know the dimensions of Your love, Eph 3:14-18. Be near those who are in need of deliverance, setting us free by just saying the Word, Matt 8:8, and draw us and all around us to Jesus. Especially draw those weary and heavy laden, that You might give them rest, Your yoke is easy and burden is light, so they find rest for their souls, Matt 11:28-30. Work everything out for the furtherance of the gospel, Phil 1:12.

Grant relief to the persecuted church like You did when the evil king began by laying hands on some who belonged to the church in order to mistreat them, had the Apostle James the brother of John the Beloved put to death with the sword, Acts 12:1-2, and give us testimonies like we have of the Apostle Peter's angelic release from prison in Acts 12:3-17 and the Apostles Paul and Silas' earthquake resulting in the conversion of the Philippian Jailer and his household in Acts 16:27-32. Hebrews 10:34. Help us sympathize with those in prison and joyfully accept the confiscation property, knowing that we ourselves have a better and permanent possession, Hebrews 10:34. Call and grant boldness give them visits, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, "I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me." Be their Shepherd even in those situations, Rom 8:38-39.

Give grace to us all to purposely draw near to You, so You draw near to us, James 4:8. You are the vine, we are the branches; the one who remains in You, and You in them bears much fruit for apart from You we can do nothing, Jn 15:5. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, Phil 4:13. Help us keep You holy in our hearts so as to be ready in season and out of season (at any time in any circumstance) to give an answer for the hope within us, with respect, 2 Tim 2:25, so ungodliness glorifies God that it had a good witness before You returned, 1 Pet 3:15-16. Deliver us from evil people and the evil one, temptation and sin. 2 Thes 3:2-3, Matt 6:13, Luke 11:4, John 17:15. Let love abound more in knowledge and discernment so we can choose the best in every situation that gives us a choice, so we may be sincere and blameless until Your Son's return, being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from union with Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God, Phil 1:9-11. Let us freely receive Your abundant love and freely give it to others, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons, Matt 10:8. Not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, do whatever You please, but as the Earth You have given to the sons of men, help us rule in part with You even now, Ps 115:1-18. Perfect our love, for as You are, so also are we in this world, 1 John 4:17. Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We join you in this beautiful and faithful prayer and we say amen to your cry for Jesus to shepherd His sheep and to remember those in chains.

We are encouraged by your heart that is so aligned with the Word, for we know the Lord is indeed our Shepherd and we shall not want as Psalm 23:1 says, and He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep as John 10:11 declares. We cling to the promise that His sheep hear His voice and He knows them and they follow Him as John 10:27 teaches, and that He stands and shepherds His flock in the strength of the Lord as Micah 5:4 promises. We take comfort that there is one flock and one Shepherd as John 10:16 says, and that He gently leads those who have young as Isaiah 40:11 reveals, and He Himself will shepherd us and be our guide even unto death and wipe away every tear as Revelation 7:17 proclaims.

We also hear your burden for the persecuted church and we agree that we must remember those who are in bonds as bound with them and those who are ill treated as being also in the body as Hebrews 13:3 commands, and to remember our chains as Colossians 4:18 urges. We pray for those who suffer for righteousness sake, remembering how Herod laid hands on some who belonged to the assembly to mistreat them and killed James the brother of John with the sword as Acts 12:1-2 records, and we ask for the same deliverance that opened prison doors for Peter as Acts 12:3-17 shows and that shook the prison and saved the jailer and his household as Acts 16:27-32 tells. We pray that we would have compassion to joyfully accept hardship knowing we have a better and an enduring possession in heaven as Hebrews 10:34 says, and to visit those in prison as unto Christ Himself as Matthew 25:36 teaches.

Lord Jesus, we thank You that You are the Lord our Shepherd and the Good Shepherd who laid down Your life for us. We thank You that You lead us out and we hear Your voice and follow You alone. We ask You to take care of us, defend us, comfort us and feed us with wisdom and knowledge. Give Your angels charge over us and over our fellow believers in spiritual battle as Psalm 91:11 promises, for they are ministering spirits sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation as Hebrews 1:14 says. Strengthen the shepherds to shepherd the flock of God among them not under compulsion but willingly as 1 Peter 5:2 says, and help us all be on guard for ourselves and for the flock from savage wolves as Acts 20:28-29 warns, by abiding in You and keeping Your commands as John 15:5 and Matthew 28:20 teach. Strengthen us with power through Your Spirit that we may know the breadth and length and height and depth of Your love as Ephesians 3:18 says. Be near to those who need deliverance and only say the word and they shall be healed as Matthew 8:8 declares, and draw the weary and heavy laden to Yourself that they may find rest for their souls as Matthew 11:28-30 promises. Work all things out for the furtherance of the Good News as Philippians 1:12 says. Grant relief to the persecuted, give them boldness, visit them in prison, let nothing separate them from Your love as Romans 8:38-39 assures us. Help us to draw near to You so You will draw near to us as James 4:8 says, and to remain in You for apart from You we can do nothing as John 15:5 says, yet we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as Philippians 4:13 says. Sanctify us and keep us from the evil one as John 17:15 and Matthew 6:13 ask, let love abound in knowledge and discernment that we may be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ being filled with the fruits of righteousness as Philippians 1:9-11 says, and let us freely give as we have freely received as Matthew 10:8 says. Not to us but to Your name give glory as Psalm 115:1 says. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved as Acts 4:12 declares, and it is through Him we have access to the Father as John 14:6 teaches. Thank you for pouring out such a faithful, wide-reaching prayer for the flock. We hear your love for Jesus as Shepherd and your burden for brothers and sisters under pressure, and we want to stand with you in it.

What you voiced is so big, the care of the whole church and those in chains, and it can feel heavy to carry. We have found it helps to remember that growing in abiding and in caring for others is more like long training than a single effort. Small, steady habits over time, a brief prayer as you start the day, a few verses pondered, a check in with one other believer, shape us far more than trying to hold everything at once.

If it would help, perhaps choose one or two specific places to keep before the Lord this week, a congregation or group facing hardship that is on your heart, and invite one other person in your church to remember them with you. That shared remembering often makes the burden lighter and the prayer more sustained.

We are grateful for your shepherd heart.

Father, thank You for being our Shepherd who knows Your sheep and cares for them. Strengthen those who are weary, isolated or in prison today, and draw each of us closer to You. Make us faithful in small steps of abiding and in loving one another well. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We join our hearts with yours in thanking the Lord our Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep. How sweetly does that word sound, The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. It is easy to say He has been our Shepherd in the past, but faith says He is our Shepherd in the present and will be our Shepherd in the future, and therefore we shall still be fed, for the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto us abides.

He is not a half shepherd, but a shepherd in the fullest possible sense. Scripture sets Him before us as the Good Shepherd who gives His life, the Great Shepherd who lives and cares for His own, and the Chief Shepherd who shall appear to reward His flock. All the possibilities that lie in a shepherd are found in Christ, for He owns the flock, He knows His own and His own know Him, and He is the caretaker who always takes care of them. He leads them out, they hear His voice and follow Him, and He feeds them on wisdom and knowledge, defends them, comforts them, and gives His angels charge over them.

As sheep our first duty is confidence in our Shepherd, and next to love Him who first loved us. Abiding in Him as the branch abides in the vine, we bear much fruit, for apart from Him we can do nothing, yet we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. May the Lord keep you abiding in His teaching, studying and obeying all that He has commanded, growing in knowledge and discernment, filled with the fruit of righteousness to the glory and praise of God.

We remember before the throne those in chains, as bound with them. The history of Israel is in type the history of His Church, and the Church has often been preserved by persecution. She was never purer, never holier, never nearer to her Saviour than when she was persecuted, and He who delivered in days gone by can do it again. God never has forsaken them that fear Him, and He never will do so. Though the adversary lays hands on the saints to mistreat them, as when James was put to death with the sword, yet the same Lord who sent His angel to release Peter from prison and who shook the prison doors for Paul and Silas until the jailer and his household believed, still reigns. He was cast into the prison of the grave and came forth to be ruler over all, and that same deliverance He has wrought for us when the Lamb was slain. He has found a ransom, and that deliverance is eternal, nor shall the infernal lion ever be able to rend one sheep or lamb that the Great Shepherd deigns to keep.

We pray that He will be doubly near to those who suffer extraordinary troubles, that He will set them free by speaking the Word, that He will give visits to the visited, clothing, comfort and boldness, and that He will work all things for the furtherance of the Gospel. May He strengthen the entire flock of God among you, keep you on guard against wolves, deliver you from evil people and from the evil one, and draw the weary and heavy laden to find rest under His easy yoke. Let love abound, let your hope be ready to be given with meekness and respect, and let all be done not unto us but unto His name give glory, till He brings us forth with joy to sing songs of deliverance.

We join you in this prayer and give thanks with you for the Lord who is our Shepherd. He laid down His life for His sheep, He knows them and calls them by name, and they hear His voice and follow Him. We thank Him that He leads, feeds, guards and restores us, that He carries us as a shepherd carries lambs, and that He has promised to be with His flock to the end.

We pray as you have asked that He would shepherd the whole flock of God among us. May He strengthen pastors and all believers to watch over themselves and over the flock, to stay rooted in Christ the vine and to hold fast to His teaching, to study and obey all that He has commanded. We ask Him to keep us from false teachers and from the evil one, to fill us with knowledge and discernment, and to make our love abound so that we bear much fruit for His glory. We ask for power through the Holy Spirit to grasp the breadth and depth of His love, and to live lives filled with the fruit of righteousness in union with Christ.

We also remember before Him those in chains, as you have asked. The Scripture tells us to remember those in prison as if we were bound with them, and the history of the Church shows us that bonds, imprisonments, scourgings and mockings have often been the lot of the faithful for the sake of Christ. This brings comfort, because our distress is from the same cause as that of the apostles and prophets before us. We think of James put to death by the sword, of Peter delivered by an angel from prison, and of Paul and Silas singing in prison when the earth shook and the jailer and his household were brought to faith.

We pray for our brothers and sisters who are persecuted now. We ask the Lord to be near them as their Shepherd even in prison, that nothing would separate them from His love, and that He would grant them relief according to His wisdom, whether by deliverance or by sustaining grace. We pray that He would give them boldness to confess Christ, and that He would move His people to visit them, to show mercy and to share in their suffering, knowing that we have a better and lasting possession in heaven. We pray that even their trials would serve for the furtherance of the gospel, and that God would be glorified through their faithful witness.

We ask too that we all would draw near to God so that He will draw near to us, that we would remain in Christ apart from whom we can do nothing, and that through Him we may do all things He calls us to do. May He keep us holy in heart and ready at all times to give an answer for the hope within us with gentleness and respect, to receive His abundant love and to freely give it to others, and to seek not our own glory but His alone.

We ask this trusting that in this world we will have tribulation, but Christ has overcome the world, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. May His power rest upon His people, and may He bring the weary and heavy laden to Himself to find rest for their souls, until He comes again. We pray all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
