The spirit or the soul of my dad was triggered by a song named speed that was playing on the internet. The soul or spirit is affected by my previous hobbies and interests that I had been engaged in 4+ years ago. Why do I have to argue against this nonsense, and compounded effect of spiritual addiction affecting the physical body. Thanks Jesus for peace, providence, and progress in Jesus’ name, Amen.

We understand the deep spiritual struggle you’re facing, and we stand with you in prayer, knowing that the battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness that seek to oppress and deceive. The fact that you recognize this as a spiritual attack is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s work in you, convicting and guiding you toward truth. Let us first address the core of what you’ve shared with Scripture and prayer.

The enemy often uses triggers—like music, memories, or past habits—to stir up old strongholds, especially when we’ve been delivered from them. The fact that this song affected your father’s spirit or soul (or even your own) suggests that there may be lingering spiritual ties from your past hobbies and interests. The Bible warns us in **Ephesians 4:27**, *"Don’t give place to the devil,"* and in **2 Corinthians 10:3-5**, we’re reminded that *"though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."* This is not a battle you fight in your own strength—it is a spiritual war that requires the authority of Jesus Christ and the power of His Word.

You asked why you have to argue against this nonsense—it’s because the enemy seeks to re-establish footholds in your life through deception, guilt, or even nostalgia for past sins. But you are no longer a slave to those things! **Romans 6:6** declares, *"knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin."* If these past hobbies or interests were tied to sinful behaviors (such as occult practices, ungodly music, or anything that dishonors God), then the enemy will try to use them to bring confusion, condemnation, or even physical manifestations of spiritual oppression. But you have been set free in Christ, and you must *stand firm* in that freedom.

Now, let’s address the mention of your father’s spirit or soul being triggered. If your father is a believer, we can pray for his protection and deliverance from any spiritual influence tied to this. If he is not saved, this could be an opportunity to pray for his salvation and freedom from any spiritual darkness. Either way, we must cover him in prayer. The Bible tells us in **1 Peter 5:8**, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* We must resist him, steadfast in faith.

As for the "compounded effect of spiritual addiction affecting the physical body," this is a real phenomenon. Sin and spiritual bondage can manifest in physical ways—anxiety, restlessness, or even illness. But **1 John 4:4** assures us, *"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."* You are not powerless. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you, and He is greater than any spiritual addiction or oppression.

Let us also clarify something important: you mentioned "Thanks Jesus for peace, providence, and progress in Jesus’ name." We rejoice that you acknowledged Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. **John 14:6** says, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And **Acts 4:12** declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is critical that every prayer, every request, and every word of thanksgiving be directed to God *through Jesus Christ alone*. There is no other name by which we are saved, and there is no other mediator between God and man (**1 Timothy 2:5**). We encourage you to always pray *in Jesus’ name*, for it is by His authority that we overcome the enemy.

Now, let us pray together for you and your father:

---
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are sovereign over all things, including the spiritual battles we face. Lord, we lift up our brother who is experiencing spiritual oppression tied to past sins and triggers from the enemy. We declare that he is *free* in Christ Jesus, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper (**Isaiah 54:17**).

Father, we rebuke every spirit of addiction, deception, and oppression that seeks to torment him through memories, music, or past hobbies. We break every ungodly soul tie and every demonic assignment against his mind, body, and spirit in Jesus’ name. Let the blood of Jesus cleanse him from every remnant of sin and darkness, and let the Holy Spirit fill him afresh with Your peace and power.

Lord, we also lift up his father. If he is a believer, we ask for Your protection over his mind and spirit. Shield him from any spiritual attacks and let Your peace guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 4:7**). If he does not yet know You, we pray that this situation would be a wake-up call, leading him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Softens his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself.

Father, we ask for Your divine providence and progress in our brother’s life. Let him walk in the fullness of Your freedom, no longer bound by the past but pressing forward toward the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 3:13-14**). Fill him with Your Word, Your truth, and Your Spirit, so that he may stand firm against every scheme of the enemy.

We thank You, Lord, for Your victory. We thank You that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We declare that our brother is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (**Romans 8:37**), and we trust You to bring complete deliverance and restoration.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Brother, we encourage you to take the following steps:
1. **Renounce and repent**: If there are any past sins tied to these hobbies or interests (such as involvement in occult practices, ungodly music, or anything that dishonors God), renounce them aloud in prayer. Confess them to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness and cleansing (**1 John 1:9**).
2. **Replace with Scripture**: Fill your mind with the Word of God. **Psalm 119:11** says, *"I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."* Memorize and meditate on verses that declare your freedom in Christ.
3. **Guard your gates**: Be mindful of what you allow into your spirit through music, media, and entertainment. **Philippians 4:8** tells us to focus on whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable.
4. **Walk in authority**: You have been given authority in Christ to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (**Luke 10:19**). Use that authority to resist the devil, and he *will* flee from you (**James 4:7**).
5. **Seek godly counsel**: If this oppression persists, consider speaking with a mature believer or pastor who can pray with you and provide further guidance.

Stand firm, brother. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (**Deuteronomy 31:6**). You are not fighting this battle alone—we are with you in prayer, and the hosts of heaven are on your side. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (**Hebrews 12:2**). The victory is already yours in Him!

We're here for you, dear friend. We've been where you are, and we understand the struggle. It's like a ghost from the past trying to haunt your present, isn't it? But remember, Jesus has the final say, and He's already won the battle.

Let's pray together, shall we?

We break every chain, every soul tie, every spirit of addiction and oppression in Jesus' name.

Father, we ask for Your divine protection over our friend's father. Whether he knows You or not, we ask for Your mercy and grace to cover him. If he doesn't know You yet, we pray that this situation would be a wake-up call, drawing him to Your loving arms.

We thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We trust in Your providence, knowing that You are working all things together for our good. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
