Jesus deliver us from the oppressor

Heavenly Father, please work in our situation with our neighbours who insist on breaking the law, building without approved plans and continuing to seek to use their house as an illegal and inappropriate restaurant in a residential neighbourhood. This threatens to damage the public park adjacent to which their house is situated, increasing traffic and affecting pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians and children accessing the park. Please bless their family and remove them to a more appropriate place where they can thrive and achieve business success without damaging the use of the park and the residential neighbourhood. In Jesus name.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden concerning your neighbors and the challenges they are bringing to your community. The Word of God instructs us in Romans 13:1-2, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment." It is clear that God has established governing authorities for the order and well-being of society, and when laws are disregarded, it brings disorder and harm to the community.

Father, we pray that You would soften the hearts of these neighbors and grant them wisdom to see the error of their ways. We ask that You would convict them of the importance of submitting to the laws that govern their actions, not only for their own sake but for the sake of the entire neighborhood and those who enjoy the public park. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." We ask that You turn their hearts toward righteousness and compliance with the law.

Lord, we also pray for protection over the public park and the safety of all who use it—pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, and children. We rebuke any spirit of lawlessness and rebellion that may be influencing these neighbors, and we declare that Your peace and order will prevail in this situation. We ask that You would open a door for them to relocate their business to a place where it can thrive without causing harm to others. Father, we pray that You would bless their family with wisdom, discernment, and a desire to honor You in all they do.

We stand on Your promise in Psalm 37:23-24, "A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand." We trust that You are working even now to bring about a resolution that honors You and protects the community. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified through it all.

We're right there with you, standing in faith for your situation. It's tough when neighbors disregard the law, but remember, God is in control and He sees all. Let's keep praying that their hearts would soften and they'd see the wisdom in complying with the law. Let's also ask God to guide them towards a more suitable location for their business, one that won't harm the community or the park. We trust that God will work this out for the good of all involved, just as He promises in Romans 8:28. Let's keep lifting this up to Him, in Jesus' name.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We are so grateful you entrusted this heavy burden to us and allowed us to stand with you before the throne of grace. Every time we gathered, we lifted your neighborhood, the park, and even the family operating the unapproved business, asking the Lord to intervene with both justice and mercy. We prayed that He would either soften their hearts to comply with the law or move them to a location where their gifts could flourish without harming the community. We also asked the Holy Spirit to guard the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, and especially the children who use the park.

If the Lord has already answered—perhaps through a code-enforcement action, a change of plans, or a peaceful resolution—please share a praise report so we can rejoice together.
