Dear God thank you for my talk with my boss and my high school friend. I feel better to know that I still have a good job and that I am a good person and that with your help I can get back to work next week and to drink less or no more alcohol and smoking pot and to be a better husband and a better dad and a better employee. Please help our adult kids with their needs. Please continue to soften the hearts of my wife and my boss and my coworkers and my customers. Thank you for Easter tomorrow morning! Thank you for not giving up on me. Please touch my wife's heart for her to know that I am going to be okay. Please help me stop drinking alcohol soon so that I can get back to work at 7 am on Monday morning!

We come before the throne of grace with gratitude in our hearts for your honesty and your desire to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have received. You have acknowledged Jesus Christ, and it is in His mighty name that we lift you up, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We rejoice that you have found comfort in knowing your job is secure and that you are seeking to make positive changes in your life. This is a testament to the work of the Holy Spirit within you, drawing you closer to the Father.

First, we want to address the areas where you are seeking transformation. The Bible is clear that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Drinking alcohol to excess and smoking pot are not in alignment with God’s will for your life. Proverbs 20:1 warns us, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life and command it to flee in the name of Jesus. You are not powerless; you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, and through Christ, you can overcome (Philippians 4:13). We encourage you to seek accountability, whether through a godly mentor, a support group, or your local church. Do not rely on your own strength alone, but lean on the Lord and the community of believers He has placed around you.

Your desire to be a better husband, father, and employee is commendable. Ephesians 5:25 instructs husbands to love their wives just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her. This is a high calling, and it requires sacrifice, patience, and humility. We pray that God would give you the grace to lead your family with love and wisdom, demonstrating the love of Christ in all you do. As a father, you are called to raise your children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Even as they are adults, your influence and prayers for them are powerful. We join you in praying for their needs, asking God to provide for them, protect them, and draw them closer to Himself.

We also lift up your wife, asking the Lord to soften her heart toward you as you seek to change. It is natural for her to have reservations, especially if there has been hurt in the past. We pray that she would see the sincerity of your repentance and the transformation the Holy Spirit is working in you. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. We encourage you to communicate openly with her, not just with words, but with actions that demonstrate your commitment to change. Let your life be a living testimony of God’s grace and mercy.

Your relationship with your boss, coworkers, and customers is also an opportunity to reflect Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." We pray that God would give you favor in their eyes and that your work would be a testimony to His goodness. As you return to work, let your actions and attitude be a light in your workplace.

Easter is a beautiful reminder of the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Because He lives, we too can live a new life (Romans 6:4). We rejoice that you are embracing this truth and seeking to walk in the newness of life that Christ offers. We rebuke any lies from the enemy that tell you change is impossible. With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). We declare that you will rise with Christ, leaving behind the old habits and embracing the new creation you are in Him.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your mercy and grace. We thank You for the work You are doing in this brother’s life. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen him to overcome the temptations of alcohol and drugs. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in self-control and discipline. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in his life and command it to flee in the name of Jesus. Give him the courage to seek help and accountability, and surround him with godly men who will support and encourage him.

Lord, we pray for his marriage. Soften his wife’s heart and help her to see the changes You are making in him. Restore trust and intimacy in their relationship, and let their marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the church. Father, we also lift up his children. Meet their needs, draw them closer to You, and let them see Your hand at work in their father’s life.

As he returns to work, give him favor with his boss, coworkers, and customers. Let his work be a testimony to Your goodness and grace. Help him to be a light in his workplace, reflecting the love of Christ in all he does.

Lord, we thank You for the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. We declare that this brother will walk in newness of life, leaving behind the old habits and embracing the new creation he is in You. Strengthen him, Lord, and let him experience the fullness of life that You have promised.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Continue to press into the Lord, dear brother. The road to transformation is not always easy, but it is worth it. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone; we stand with you in prayer and support as you seek to honor God in every area of your life.

We're right there with you, brother. It's encouraging to see the positive steps you're taking and the changes you're making. We're cheering you on and standing in faith with you.

We want to pray for you to have extra strength and courage as you return to work. Let's declare together that you will be a beacon of light in your workplace, reflecting Christ's love and grace in all you do. We also ask that God would give you favor with your boss, coworkers, and customers, and that your work would be a testament to His goodness.

Let's also pray for your family. We ask God to continue softening your wife's heart and to help her see the transformation in you. We also lift up your adult kids, asking God to meet their needs and draw them closer to Him.

And finally, we celebrate Easter with you. We rejoice in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ and declare that you will walk in newness of life, leaving behind old habits and embracing the new creation you are in Him.

Keep pressing on, brother. We're right there with you, every step of the way.
