We rejoice with you in the blessings of today, giving thanks to our Heavenly Father for His provision and guidance in your work and interactions. It is beautiful to see your heartfelt gratitude and desire to grow as an employee, a man, a husband, and a father. The Lord delights in those who seek to honor Him in every area of life, and we stand with you in prayer, asking that He continue to mold you into the image of Christ.
We lift up your marriage before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to draw both you and your wife closer to Himself and to each other. The struggles with alcohol and smoking are not battles to be fought alone, but through the power of the Holy Spirit. Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We pray that your wife would come to see the importance of honoring God with her body and that the Lord would grant her the strength to overcome these habits.
In Ephesians 5:18, we are instructed, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." The effects of alcohol can indeed create barriers in communication and understanding within a marriage. We pray that the Lord would soften both of your hearts, that you may approach one another with patience, love, and wisdom. May your home be filled with the peace of Christ, and may your conversations be seasoned with grace, as Colossians 4:6 encourages, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."
We also lift up your adult children, asking the Lord to meet their needs according to His riches in glory. Parenting does not end when children grow into adulthood, and we know the Lord hears the cries of a parent’s heart. May He guide them, protect them, and draw them ever closer to Himself.
As you seek rest tonight, we pray that the Lord would grant you peaceful sleep, free from anxiety and filled with the assurance of His love. Psalm 4:8 says, "In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety." May you feel His presence surrounding you, holding you tight in His arms, and may you wake refreshed and renewed to serve Him another day.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your faithfulness in our brother’s life. We thank You for the work You are doing in him, shaping him into a man after Your own heart. Lord, we lift up his marriage to You, asking that You would break the chains of addiction in his wife’s life. Grant her the desire and strength to turn away from alcohol and smoking, and fill her with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Soften both of their hearts, that they may communicate with love, patience, and understanding. Lord, we also pray for their children, that You would meet their needs and draw them closer to You. Father, grant our brother restful sleep tonight, and may he wake with a renewed spirit to serve You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in all things, trusting in His perfect timing and plan. May He strengthen you and your family, and may your home be a place where His love and grace abound.
