Jesus Christ please help us

Disciple of Prayer
Dear God please help me and my wife and our adult son with our AUD. Please take care of my blue violet flower. Please help me be a better husband and a better person and a better dad to our adult kid's and a better worker Bee. Please help me with my projects and proposals and my ability to keep my job. Please help our adult daughter with her marriage and her pregnancy. I just woke up and I am laying in my bed drinking alcohol and asking you to help me and to forgive me for my AUD. I'm very tired and I hope that you can help me handle my job for at least another 5 years. Amen

We join you together before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank you for calling upon His name, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to God. As it is written, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We praise God that you have come to Him through Jesus.

We hear your honest and humble cry about alcohol use disorder for you and your wife and your adult son. We lift all three of you up and we also pray for your blue violet flower and for all the small things you have entrusted to God, for He cares for even the smallest details of our lives. We hear your desire to be a better husband and a better father to your adult children and a better worker, and to be faithful in your projects and proposals and to keep your job. We also lift up your adult daughter and her marriage and her pregnancy.

We want to lovingly and firmly address what you shared, that you are laying in bed drinking alcohol while asking for help and forgiveness. We know you are tired and struggling, and God sees your weariness and your honesty. He promises If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. There is forgiveness for you in Christ, and we thank God for your repentant heart.

Yet we must also rebuke the continuing use of alcohol in this way, because Scripture is clear that drunkenness and being mastered by alcohol is not God's will for us and it harms the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. As it is written Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. Also it says Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. To pray for deliverance while still drinking in bed is to remain in the very thing that is binding you. God calls us to be sober and self-controlled, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. We encourage you in love to pour out what remains, to remove alcohol from your bedside and your home, and to seek help today, including pastoral counsel, trusted Christian accountability, and medical help for alcohol use disorder, for God often provides deliverance through the help of others and through wise counsel.

We are encouraged by your desire to be a godly husband and father. Scripture calls husbands to love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25 and calls fathers to walk in love and encouragement. God will help you grow in this as you walk in sobriety and in the Spirit. For your work, we pray you will work as unto the Lord, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. God sees your fatigue and your hope to continue working for at least another five years. Jesus invites you Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. He will renew your strength day by day, and we claim for you I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me Philippians 4:13, not by your own willpower but by His power and by the support He provides.

We also pray for your family. We ask God to bring freedom and sobriety to your wife and your adult son as well, for No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We pray that your whole household would walk in that way of escape together. For your adult daughter, we thank God for the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman and we pray for her marriage to be strengthened in Christ and for her pregnancy to be healthy and for protection for both mother and child, for You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb Psalm 139:13.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for this dear brother and his wife and his adult son and his adult daughter. Lord forgive us for our sins and cleanse us as You have promised. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us Psalm 51:10. Lord we ask for deliverance from alcohol for this entire family. Take away the craving and the habit and the dependence, and fill each one with Your Holy Spirit instead. Give this brother strength to turn away completely, to seek help without shame, to confess to a pastor or counselor and to a doctor, and to walk in daily sobriety and accountability. Restore his body, his mind, his sleep, and his energy. Give him grace to be the husband and father You have called him to be, patient, kind, faithful and self-controlled, bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Bless the work of his hands, give him clarity for his projects and proposals, and sustain him in his job according to Your will. Provide for all his needs and let his work bring glory to You. Lord we place his blue violet flower in Your hands and we thank You that You care for all Your creation. Lord we lift his adult daughter and her husband and their unborn child, protect the marriage and let it honor You, and grant a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery. Father we are tired and You promise rest to the weary, lift this burden and carry us. We trust not in ourselves but in Christ who strengthens us. Let this family know the joy of freedom in Christ, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We were moved by your honesty this morning, reaching out even as you were lying in bed drinking and feeling tired and burdened. Wanting to be a better husband and dad and to care well for your wife, your son, your daughter and her pregnancy, and even your little blue violet flower shows how much you care, and we thank you for letting us pray with you.

Carrying alcohol use alongside worry about work and family can feel heavy and isolating, and wanting forgiveness and a fresh way forward is a good and humble place to turn to Jesus. Change often comes not only through prayer alone but through steady support around you, and you do not have to face this by yourself.

One gentle next step we would encourage, alongside prayer, is to reach out soon to a trusted professional for support with alcohol use, whether your doctor, a counselor, or a pastor, or a recovery group like Alcoholics Anonymous in your area. If you have someone safe at home or in your church, consider letting them know you drank this morning and that you want help staying connected through the day.

Father, we lift this brother to You in Jesus name. Forgive him and draw him close, give him rest and strength for today, wisdom for his work and proposals, and grace to love his wife and children well. Watch over his son and his daughter and her marriage and baby, and guide this whole family toward healing and hope. Help him find caring support close by and keep taking the next right step with You. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers. I appreciate it and I promise to not give up on you or myself or my family and my coworkers and my customers and my bosses. Thank you for everything that you have done for me and are doing for me and will do for me and my family. Thank you for your Son Jesus Christ my lord and Savior. Amen 🙏

Waking up already drinking sounds like a hard place to be. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over loosening addiction's hold, and you only have to listen. I hope the pull of it starts loosening for you.

Your honest and humble cry has come before the Lord and before His people, and I thank you for speaking so plainly of your weariness, your sin and your need. To wake in your bed, tired and drinking, and yet to turn your face toward Jesus Christ for help and forgiveness, this is no small mercy. It is the Spirit of God that makes a man tremble and shake for fear and yet with a penitent heart desire forgiveness.

Hear then the word which God Himself speaks for such a heart as yours. I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake. It is a divine forgiveness, not from man but from the Lord Himself. Were all men to hiss at you and wish you gone, you would not need their pardon to enter heaven if you have His. And it is a surprising forgiveness. Scripture speaks as if God Himself would have us wonder at it, saying I, even I. If you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness, and God can bestow it now.

There is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared. This is the blessed whisper that drives away despair. There is forgiveness. There is forgiveness. Not for this sin or for that alone, but an unlimited and complete forgiveness. Where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. When you come and put your trust in Christ, the Lord promises oblivion to all your debt, the whole record nailed to the cross. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which He gives for Christs sake is an eternal forgiveness. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He never plays fast and loose with men.

Yet remember who it is that sends the forgiveness and how it is to be had. There is forgiveness, but that forgiveness is only to be obtained from God, through Jesus Christ His Son, who died the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. Do as Luther did when his brother monk said to him, Do you not say I believe in the forgiveness of sins, now believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, confess your sin without excuse, and trust His blood alone to cleanse you. That same faith which receives pardon also receives power to turn from sin. Wherever the forgiveness of sin truly comes, there comes with it a turning from sin, a leaving of sin, a fresh view of sin. The heart that once sought its own pleasure now seeks Gods pleasure.

You have asked for help with what you rightly call AUD, for yourself and for your wife and your adult son. This is a heavy bondage, and many have been a long time in it. God brings down the heart with labor that we may feel our need of a Saviour, and then He delights to set the captive free. Seek that forgiveness and that freedom together. Come to Christ just as you are, and then walk in the light by practical means which God blesses. Confess plainly to a faithful pastor or godly brother, seek the fellowship of the church, and seek also the help of those skilled to care for the body in this affliction. Put away the cup from your hand and from your house, and pray for strength for each hour. The Lord who forgives will also help you to watch and to pray lest you enter into temptation.

You ask to be a better husband and a better father to your adult children, and a faithful worker in your calling. This is a right prayer, for he who is forgiven much loves much, and love is diligent in duty. The pattern set before us is Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. As you receive that great forgiveness, you will find a new power to be tender, truthful, patient and industrious. Commit your projects and proposals to the Lord, do your work heartily as unto Him, and trust Him for the keeping of your job, whether for five years or for as long as He sees fit. He knows your tiredness and your frame, and He gives power to the faint.

I will pray for your blue violet flower, for the Lord cares for the smallest of His creatures and for the work of your hands, and how much more for you who are made in His image. I will pray also for your adult daughter, that the Lord would strengthen her marriage according to His holy ordinance, that lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that He would keep her and the child she carries in safety and bring forth life in His mercy. And I will pray for your wife and your son, that the same forgiveness and deliverance you seek may be theirs through faith in Christ.

May you now hear this assurance, that there is forgiveness with God even for you, however sinful your life has been until now. Do not wait until you get home or until you feel better. At this moment there is forgiveness. Turn to Him, trust His Son, and you shall find that He blots out your sins and remembers them no more.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, have mercy upon this weary brother. For Christs sake blot out his transgressions and cleanse him from his sin. Give him faith to believe that Thou hast put away his debt, and give him grace to leave his sin and to walk in newness of life. Help his wife and his son, and deliver them also from bondage. Bless his daughter and her marriage and her unborn child, keep them in health and in Thy fear. Strengthen this man for his daily work, give him steadiness of hand and mind, and keep him in honest labor. Guard the little flower committed to his care, and teach him Thy loving kindness in all small things. Lift the tired heart, give sleep and sobriety and hope, and let him know that Jesus Christ is able to save to the uttermost. In that worthy name we ask it, Amen.

Praying for you, your wife and your son, may our Lord guide you to the realization that the use of alcohol is keeping you from living healthy and freely. Praying that the Lord will watch over your daughter, her husband and their unborn baby, keeping them safe and protected. May our Lord grant you a productive and stress free work day, as well as pleasant interactions with coworkers and customers. Prayers in the name of Jesus.
