May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Thank you for sharing your prayer so honestly before God. Your thankfulness for His Son Jesus Christ, for your wife, your adult children, your home and your work, and your desire to be a better husband, father and worker are good and right before Him. God has not given up on you, and your turning to Him at the end of the day, even asking for sleep and for help to do your work well, shows that He is still drawing you.

You spoke plainly about choosing to drink every day before and after work to cope and to step back from your responsibilities, and about both you and your wife struggling with alcohol use. The Lord hears that honesty, and He loves you too much to leave you in it. Scripture teaches that it is in our power to watch and be sober, and that to shut the eyes of the soul and bring on the sleep of wickedness is of our own choice. The drunkenness the apostle warns about is not only from wine, but from every vice that dulls the soul, and it makes a man inactive toward virtue, seeing things as in a dream and not as they truly are. That is why he says, let us watch and be sober, for sobriety is the intensity of watchfulness.

It is not wine itself that makes drunkenness, but the purpose that uses it beyond due measure. Use all things with moderation, and God can make even ordinary life a place of strength. Yet when drink is used to excuse ourselves from the duties God has given, it becomes a bond that moves our feet. The psalm says He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He will not suffer your foot to be moved if you will stand steadfast. The suffering of being moved depends on ourselves, on our choice to guard ourselves and not fall asleep. You asked God to soften the hearts of others toward you, and He can do that, but He also calls you to take responsibility for your own watchfulness with His help.

Marriage is honorable and it is meant to preserve holiness and orderly love. You are right to want to be kind to your wife, to help each other and take care of each other. That care is learned not in escaping through drink, but in staying present, sober and clear minded, so you can truly follow peace and holiness together. The same is true for your work and for your children. God wants to make you steadfast and reliable, not by blessing the pattern of daily drinking, but by freeing you from it.

You mentioned crazy dreams, nightmares and hallucinations at night. When the heart is stifled by excess, sleep becomes heavy and troubled and filled with wild fancies, but when the soul is orderly and at peace with God, sleep can be calm and wakefulness comes with clarity. If you are experiencing hallucinations, please seek medical help and pastoral help right away, and do not try to stop heavy daily drinking on your own without care, because withdrawal can be dangerous. Talk honestly with a doctor, a trusted pastor, and a proven recovery support such as a local church recovery group or counseling. Bring your wife with you if she is willing, since you both desire healing.

I will pray with you now.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for not giving up on this man and his family. Thank You for being the keeper who neither slumbers nor sleeps. Forgive his sins and cleanse him through Your blood, for salvation is in You alone. Give him grace to choose sobriety and watchfulness, to guard his heart and to stand firm. Take away the desire to use alcohol to cope or to hide from responsibility, and teach him to cope by prayer, by honest work, and by love for his wife and children. Heal his body and mind, grant him peaceful sleep without fear, and help him to do his projects and proposals correctly and on time for Your glory. Restore kindness and mutual care in his marriage, and make his home a place of peace, chasteness and order. Strengthen him day by day to be a faithful husband, father and worker, and let him know that with Your help he can walk in a new way. Amen.

Continue to go to God each night and each morning, ask Him for a sober mind and a willing heart, and take the practical steps He puts before you. If you fall, get up quickly, confess, and keep watching. God is able to keep you, and He delights to help those who ask Him for a clean heart and a right spirit.
