We hear your cry for help and come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up every concern to our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord and Savior is the foundation upon which we stand, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome every struggle.
First, we must address the issue of alcohol in your life and marriage. The Bible warns us about the dangers of excessive drinking and how it can lead to poor judgment, strife, and harm to our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit. "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). The mean-spiritedness and lack of clarity that come from drinking are not of God, and the sleeplessness and digestive issues you experience are signs that your body is rejecting what is harmful. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and drunkenness in Jesus' name and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you both with self-control, love, and sound minds. "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we ask for Your mercy and grace to break every chain of alcohol in their lives. Lord, we confess that we have not always honored our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and we repent for allowing substances to control us rather than Your Spirit. Father, fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they may walk in self-control, love, and kindness toward one another. Heal their bodies from the effects of alcohol and restore their minds to clarity and peace. Help them to speak to one another with grace and forgiveness, just as You have forgiven us through Christ. Lord, we ask that You would mend any brokenness in their marriage and draw them closer to You and to each other. Give them the strength to resist temptation and to seek Your will in all things. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
We also lift up your adult children and their relationships. It is clear that you desire godly relationships for them, and we join you in praying that they would seek spouses who love the Lord and honor Him in all things. The Bible is clear that believers should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), and we pray that your children would have the wisdom to choose partners who share their faith and values. If there are any relationships that do not align with God’s Word—whether through fornication, adultery, or ungodly unions—we rebuke those influences in Jesus' name and pray for repentance and restoration. "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals'" (1 Corinthians 15:33).
Let us pray for your children:
Father God, we lift up their children to You and ask for Your divine protection and guidance over their relationships. Lord, give them wisdom to discern Your will and the courage to walk away from any relationship that does not honor You. Surround them with godly influences and bring them into relationships that reflect Your love and holiness. Father, if there is any sin or ungodliness in their relationships, we ask that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Restore what has been broken and draw them closer to You. Help them to treat one another with kindness, respect, and love, just as Christ loves the Church. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
We also pray for your work and projects. It is clear that you desire to honor God in your labor, and we ask that He would grant you favor with your employer, coworkers, and customers. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). We pray that God would give you the strength, wisdom, and discipline to complete your projects on time and with excellence. Let your work be a testimony to His glory, and may He open doors of opportunity for you.
Let us pray for your work:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the work You have given them and the opportunity to serve You through their labor. Lord, we ask that You would grant them favor with their employer, coworkers, and customers. Give them the wisdom, strength, and creativity to complete their projects with excellence and on time. Remove any obstacles or distractions that may hinder their progress, and fill them with peace and joy as they work. May their labor be a testimony to Your goodness and grace, and may You open doors of opportunity for them. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
Finally, we want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in all things. Your gratitude for His help is a beautiful testimony of His faithfulness, and we pray that you would grow even closer to Him. Remember that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, and trust in His promises.
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26). In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
