Dear God please help me get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time today at work. Please help me be a better person and a better husband and a better dad to our adult kid's and please help me be a better project manager. Please help me to not be an alcoholic anymore. I'm sorry that I have been drinking alcohol every day. Please help me sober up and get back to work. Please help me and my wife to be nice to each other and to help each other. Please help me be a better friend to my wife. Please help me have a good day at work today. Please help my wife and our adult kid's with their needs. Thank you for not giving up on me!

We join you in calling upon the name of Jesus Christ and we thank God that you have come to Him so honestly and humbly. We rejoice that you recognize His mercy and that He has not given up on you, for His loving kindnesses indeed never fail, they are new every morning, great is His faithfulness Lamentations 3:22-23. We stand with you together before the Father in Jesus name, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and there is no other name by which we can be saved John 14:6, Acts 4:12.

We want to lovingly and firmly address what you have confessed about drinking alcohol every day. The Word tells us Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. We must also be sober and self-controlled for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. Daily drunkenness harms the body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and it hinders you from being the husband, father, friend and steward God calls you to be. We rebuke this bondage in love and we urge you to turn from it completely, confessing it before God for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We encourage you to walk in repentance daily, to seek godly accountability in your church, to remove every provision for the flesh, and to depend on the Holy Spirit for self-control which is part of the fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23. God promises No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We also lift up your desire to be a better person, a better husband, a better dad to your adult kids, a better friend to your wife, and a better project manager. This desire honors God. For your work, we are reminded Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23. God wants you to be diligent, faithful and sober minded in your projects and proposals, doing them correctly and on time as a good steward. For your marriage, we praise God for your lifelong covenant as husband and wife, which reflects Christ and the church. We encourage you to love your wife even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25 and to live with her with understanding and kindness. We pray you will grow as her friend and helper, for we are called to Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Even with adult kids, your role as a father continues through prayer, godly example, encouragement and wisdom, and we pray God helps you walk before them in integrity.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We thank You that You have not given up on our brother and that Your mercies are new every morning. We ask You to forgive him for drunkenness and to cleanse him and strengthen him to walk in complete sobriety by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Fill him with Your Spirit instead of wine, grant him self-control and a clear mind, and make a way of escape when temptation comes. Help him to get back to work with diligence and to do his projects and proposals correctly and on time today, working as unto You. Make him a better man, a better husband and a better father, help him and his wife to be kind to each other, to help each other and to speak with grace and patience. Teach him to be a true friend to his wife as You intend for marriage. Give him a good day at work today and give him strength to do all things through Christ who strengthens him Philippians 4:13. We also lift up his wife and his adult kids and ask You to meet their needs according to Your riches in glory, to draw each of them closer to Jesus and to keep their family in Your peace. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We appreciate your honesty in reaching out to Jesus today. We hear how much weight you are carrying, wanting to get your projects and proposals done correctly and on time, and at the same time wanting to be a better person, a better husband and friend to your wife, a better dad to your adult kids, and a better project manager.

It takes real courage to name that you have been drinking every day and to ask for help to sober up and get back to work. We are thankful with you that God has not given up on you, and we hear your desire for you and your wife to be kind and helpful to each other. Those are good and worthy desires, and it makes sense that it all feels like a lot to hold at once.

You do not have to carry this alone. Alongside prayer, we gently encourage you to reach out soon to a trusted person face to face, a pastor or counselor, and to let your doctor know you want help to stop drinking so you have steady, safe support. A recovery group in your area, like a Celebrate Recovery or similar Christ centered group, can also offer ongoing encouragement from others who understand.

For today at work, it can help to write down just the two or three must-do tasks and ask for clarity early if anything is unclear, so the day feels more manageable.

Father, we bring this brother before You in Jesus name. Thank You for Your mercy that has kept him. Give him strength and a clear mind for the work in front of him today, help him and his wife to show kindness to each other, watch over his wife and adult children and their needs, and lead him to good support as he seeks to leave alcohol behind. Keep him close to You today. Amen.

Your honest confession has come before the Lord and it is a hopeful sign that you pray in this way. The God who hears prayer does not cast away those who come to Him with a broken and contrite heart, and He has not given up on you, for His mercy still invites you to return and be restored.

There is much in your prayer that recalls Peter after his fall. He denied his Lord, and yet the Lord looked upon him, and that look wrought in him a bitter and saving repentance. That same Jesus lives and prays for His people still, and He is able to lift you from where Satan has sifted you and set your feet upon a rock again. You have lingering faith, for you still look to Christ, and there is therefore something in you for grace to work upon. Look to Him now upon the cross, trust His finished work alone for salvation, and ask for that look from Him which shall break the power of sin and make you weep over it and turn from it.

You ask to be delivered from daily drinking, and this is a right and necessary prayer. Strong drink is a master that will ruin both soul and body, and it must be put away with fixed purpose and repentance. The Holy Spirit's work in you does not excuse you from labor, but rather excites you to it, whereunto you also must labor, striving against this sin. Confess it plainly to the Lord, seek the help of faithful brethren in the church, and put away every occasion and provision for it. He who has begun a good work in you will continue it, and as you give diligence you will find strength not your own to walk in sobriety day by day.

You also ask to be a better husband and father and friend to your wife, and to do your work well. This is the very work God sets before you. Marriage is a covenant of choice and mutual love, where two become one, cemented by kindness and fidelity. To be a friend to your wife is to love her, to be patient with her, to speak gently and to help her as Christ helps His Church. And concerning your daily labor, remember the word, I must work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day. God does not despise your projects and proposals, and He will establish the work of your hands when that work is true and done with all your heart as unto Him. Pray with the psalmist, Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, and let the Lord establish the work of our hands, and then give yourself to that work with diligence, honesty, and prayer.

May the Lord grant you this day grace to be sober, to be diligent, to be kind in your home, and to walk in fellowship with Him as Adam walked with God in the garden after mercy had restored him. He can employ even the wanderer who has returned, and make your very weakness a means to strengthen others who have likewise fallen.

We pray for you, that the Lord Jesus Christ would cleanse you in His blood, break the chains of strong drink, give you a sound mind and a willing heart for your labor, make you tender and faithful to your wife, and provide for her and for your children according to His wisdom. May He keep you this day, give you strength for each task in its time, and bring you to know the peace and rest that are found in returning to Him and abiding with Him. Amen.

Wanting to be a better husband and dad, and naming the drinking as the thing standing in the way, says a lot about where your heart is. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over loosening addiction's hold, and you only have to listen. I hope the days start feeling more manageable.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
