Jesus Christ please help me

Hear we go again. I am an alcoholic who had a back surgery and I need to get back to work and to be a better husband and a better person and a better worker. Please help me stop drinking alcohol and smoking pot and to get off my bed and get back to work. Please help me change to be the man you want me to be! Amen 🙏

We hear your cry for help and stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting you up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your honesty and desire to change are the first steps toward the transformation that only God can bring. We rejoice that you have called on the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12) and through whom we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18).

First, we want to address the bondage of addiction you are facing. Alcoholism and substance use are not merely habits—they are strongholds that seek to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus came so that you may have life, and have it abundantly. The Word of God tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not alone in this battle, and God has already provided a way out.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life in the name of Jesus. We declare that you are set free from the chains of alcohol and substance use, for "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). We also recognize that your physical pain from back surgery may have contributed to this struggle, but we pray for your healing and strength. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is your healer ( Exodus 15:26), and we ask Him to restore your body so that you can rise up and fulfill the purposes He has for you.

Your desire to be a better husband, worker, and man of God is evidence of the Holy Spirit working in you. The Bible calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25), to lead with humility, and to provide for their families (1 Timothy 5:8). This is a high calling, but God equips those He calls. We encourage you to seek accountability—whether through a pastor, a godly mentor, or a Christian support group like Celebrate Recovery. Confess your struggles to trusted believers who can pray with you and walk alongside you (James 5:16). Do not try to do this alone, for "two are better than one... For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

We also urge you to fill your mind and heart with the Word of God. Memorize scriptures that speak to your identity in Christ and His power to transform you. Meditate on verses like Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Replace the time you spent on addiction with prayer, worship, and godly fellowship. The enemy will try to tell you that you cannot change, but we declare that you are a new creation in Christ—the old has passed away, and behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is crying out for Your help. Lord, You see his heart and his desire to change. We ask You to break every chain of addiction in his life. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, filling him with Your power and strength. Give him the courage to rise from his bed and step into the purpose You have for him. Heal his body from the pain of surgery and restore him to full health.

Father, we pray for his marriage. Soften his wife’s heart and help her to see the man You are shaping him to be. Give him the wisdom and humility to lead his family with love and integrity. Help him to be a diligent worker, honoring You in all that he does. Surround him with godly men who will encourage him, hold him accountable, and pray for him. Remove any stumbling blocks from his path and lead him into the abundant life You have promised.

Lord, we declare that he is not defined by his past or his struggles. He is Your son, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to walk in victory. Strengthen his faith, deepen his trust in You, and help him to surrender every area of his life to Your will. May he experience the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We believe that You are working in his life even now, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Do not lose heart, dear brother. The road to recovery and transformation is not always easy, but it is worth it. God is for you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep pressing into Him, and He will lift you up. We are standing with you in prayer and believe that greater days are ahead.

We're right here with you, brother. We know the struggle is real, but so is our God. We've been where you are, and we've seen the power of Jesus break chains and transform lives. You're not alone in this fight, and we're not going anywhere.

First, let's acknowledge the elephant in the room - addiction. It's a sneaky thing, isn't it? It promises freedom but delivers bondage. But remember, Jesus came to give us life, and life abundantly (John 10:10). He's not surprised by your struggle, and He's more than capable of setting you free.

So, let's pray. In Jesus' mighty name, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life. We declare that you are free from the chains of alcohol and substance use. You are no longer a slave to your past; you are a son of the Most High God (Galatians 4:7).

Now, let's talk about your desire to be a better man. We see it, and we're proud of you. As men of God, we're called to love our wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). That's a high calling, but with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Surround yourself with godly men who can hold you accountable and encourage you. Don't try to do this alone; two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

And hey, let's not forget the power of God's Word. It's alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Fill your mind and heart with it. Memorize verses that speak to your identity in Christ and His power to transform you. Replace the time you spent on addiction with prayer, worship, and fellowship.

Keep fighting, brother. The enemy will try to tell you that you can't change, but we declare that you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old has passed away, and the new has come. Greater days are ahead, and we're standing with you in prayer, believing for your victory.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, and keep moving forward. You got this, and we're right here with you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve carried your request to the Lord these past days. Your honesty about the battle with alcohol, the struggle to rise from recovery, and the longing to be the husband, worker, and man God calls you to be has weighed on our hearts. We’ve asked the Holy Spirit to strengthen your body after surgery, to break the chains of addiction, and to fill the empty places with His peace and purpose.

If you’ve seen even a small victory—perhaps a day without drinking, a moment of clarity about going back to work, or a step toward being the husband you want to be—please share it with us. Your praise will encourage others who are fighting the same fight. If the road still feels long and the burden heavy, don’t hesitate to post again. We’re not walking away; we’ll keep standing with you in prayer, lifting every need to the Father.

Remember, God isn’t waiting for you to fix yourself before He moves. He meets you right where you are, in the mess and the weakness, ready to carry you forward. Lean on Him, and let us keep lifting you up. May His grace surround you, His strength sustain you, and His love transform you, day by day. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
