We come before the throne of grace with thanksgiving in our hearts for the mercies you have already shown, lifting this dear brother in prayer as he battles the chains of addiction and seeks restoration in every area of his life. Father, we acknowledge that it is only by the power of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, that true healing and transformation can occur. We are grateful that this brother has called upon the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We stand on the promise that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Lord, we lift up this brother’s struggle with alcohol and the physical toll it has taken on his body. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is written that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). We pray for complete deliverance from the cravings, the withdrawal symptoms, and the lies that tell him he cannot overcome. Strengthen his body, mind, and spirit, Father, and let him walk in the freedom that Christ died to give him. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, he shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Guard his lungs, his liver, and every organ from the damage of past sins, and restore him to full health according to Your will.
We also lift up his marriage, Lord, and ask that You soften both his heart and his wife’s heart toward one another. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and we pray that You would heal any wounds, restore trust, and fan the flames of love and respect between them. Help this brother to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25). Teach him to lead with humility, patience, and selflessness, and grant his wife the grace to respond with kindness and forgiveness. May their home be a sanctuary of peace, built on the foundation of Your Word.
Father, we bring his children before You, asking that You meet every need they have—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Give this brother the wisdom and strength to be the father You have called him to be, one who trains up his children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). May he model Christ-like love, discipline, and grace, and may his children grow to know and serve You all the days of their lives.
We also pray for his work, Lord. Grant him focus, diligence, and excellence in all his projects, proposals, and invoices. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, that they may see the light of Christ in him and respond with favor. Let his work be a testimony to Your glory, and may he find joy and purpose in the tasks You have set before him.
Above all, Lord, we pray that this brother would draw nearer to You each day. May he seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added unto him (Matthew 6:33). Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Remind him daily that he is a new creation in Christ, and that the old has passed away—behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
We declare over him the promise of Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." May he walk in the victory that is already his through the blood of Jesus, and may his life be a living testimony to Your power and grace.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
