Dear God thank you for helping me get back to work today. Thank you for trying to help me stop shaking and sweating. Please help me get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time today and this week. Thank you for softening the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my customers.please give me the courage and the strength and the belief that my lord Jesus Christ will help me not loose my job or to not be able to support my wife and our adult kid's. Please help me with my AUD. I'm sorry that I am an alcoholic. I need your help with the work on my desk. Please help me

We hear your heartfelt cry for help, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting you up before our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord is a powerful testament to your faith, and we rejoice in the work He is doing in your life. Let us first address your struggles with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and the anxiety that accompanies it, for these are battles that must be fought with the strength and grace that only God can provide.

The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Your struggle with alcohol is not unique, but the victory over it is found in Christ alone. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life, declaring that it has no power over you because you belong to Jesus. We pray that you would find your strength in Him, leaning not on your own understanding but trusting in His power to deliver you.

Your concern for your job and your ability to provide for your family is understandable, but we must remind you that your worth and security are found in Christ, not in your employment. Matthew 6:31-33 says, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." We pray that you would cast your anxieties on the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). We declare that God is your provider, and He will not forsake you or your family.

We also pray for your work, your projects, proposals, and interactions with your bosses, coworkers, and customers. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We ask that the Lord would grant you wisdom, clarity, and favor in all your endeavors. May He soften the hearts of those around you, creating opportunities for you to shine as a light for Him in your workplace.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother who is struggling with the weight of his responsibilities, the grip of addiction, and the fear of the unknown. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of alcohol in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help and accountability. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus' name, declaring that it has no place in his life.

Father, we pray for his work. Grant him focus, wisdom, and excellence in all that he does. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, that they may see Your hand at work in his life. Provide for his family, Lord, and remind him that his security is in You alone. Calm his anxieties, replacing them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we ask that You would continue to draw him closer to You. Help him to seek You first in all things, trusting that You will provide for his needs. Surround him with godly men who can walk alongside him in his journey to sobriety and faith. Strengthen his marriage and his relationship with his children, that they may see Your love and grace reflected in his life.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We trust in Your promises and declare that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). May he find his rest and his hope in You alone. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek out a biblical, Christ-centered support group or counselor who can help you navigate your struggles with AUD. Accountability and community are vital in overcoming addiction. Remember, you are not alone in this battle, Jesus is with you, and so are we. Keep pressing into Him, and He will sustain you.

What you’re facing at your desk and in your body is real, not weakness. The shaking and sweating are signals worth taking seriously. While we pray without ceasing, we’d also encourage you to let a doctor walk alongside you through this, especially if those symptoms are tied to alcohol withdrawal or the toll stress is taking. That isn’t a lack of faith; it’s honoring the fact that God gave us both prayer and good medicine. In the meantime, a safe next step could be reaching out to one trusted, steady person, maybe a sponsor, a pastor, or someone from a recovery group who understands the daily fight. You don’t have to carry this alone.

We’re praying for your projects and your workplace. The fear of losing your livelihood and letting your family down is heavy, and God sees that ache. Courage to face the day isn’t something you have to manufacture; it often grows one small, faithful step at a time, even just starting the next task on your desk, asking for help, or pausing to quiet your mind for a moment.

Lord Jesus, we lift up our brother who wants to do his work well and provide for those he loves. Calm his body and steady his mind. Surround him with wise support, and give him the courage to take the next small step toward healing. Protect his job, and soften the hearts of those around him. Hold him close when shame whispers lies, You came for the broken, and You won’t let him go. Amen.

The warfare you describe is sharp and pressing. The shaking of the hands, the sweating brow, the dread of failing those you love, this is the very dust and heat of the battle. But you must get this fixed in your mind: it is an appointed time. The Lord has measured it, bounded it, and set its limits. You did not stumble into this trouble by chance, and the duration of this trial is not left to the whim of your fears or the cruelty of your enemy. It is a warfare, indeed, but the Captain of your salvation has already determined the hour of its conclusion. Therefore, do not add to the day's trouble the weight of an imagined tomorrow. The strength for next week is not promised today, but the strength for this hour, for this proposal, for this single task upon your desk, that strength is laid up for you in Christ.

You speak of anxiety, and well you might, but have you not found it to be a traitor that unfits you for the very duty it pretends to guard? The anxiety that arises from your difficulty will never help you meet it. It clouds the judgment and weakens the hand. Cast it from you as a foul thing. The work on your desk is not the hinge upon which the whole universe turns. It is your appointed task, and you are to do it with all your might, but you are not Atlas bearing up the world. Set about your projects calmly, as one who serves the living God and not a hard taskmaster. Do a day’s work in a day, leaning upon the Spirit for each moment’s clarity, and then leave tomorrow’s burden with the Lord who appoints all things well.

Your sorrow over your sin is itself an evidence that the flame of grace, however dim it seems, has not gone out. The man dead in sin does not cry, "I am an alcoholic, I am sorry." That confession is the cry of a living soul held fast by a grip not its own. Yet do not let your grief become a second sin by descending into a morass of self-condemning unbelief. The enemy would have you so fix your eyes upon your failure that you cannot lift them to your Redeemer. Job lost everything, and in the bitter council of his friends he could have sunk forever. Yet in all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He fell down upon the ground and worshipped. Go, and do likewise. Worship now, in the midst of your shaking. Bow before the throne and trust the righteousness of Christ to cover your every misstep. The Lord is just, and His justice is your defense now, for it is satisfied by the blood of the covenant.

You have asked for courage, strength, and belief that the Lord will help you not lose your job. This is well, but true faith takes its stand upon a deeper certainty. Even if the worst you fear should come, yet will you trust in Him. Though He slay you, though your position is lost, though your earthly support crumbles, still trust in Him. That is the faith which saves and which ultimately receives twice as much as it had before. The Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. You have prayed for the softening of your bosses’ and coworkers’ hearts. Continue that intercession. Pray for them with honest charity, and in that very act the poison of bitterness will be drawn from your own wound, and you will find the Lord turning your own captivity. Your present work, hard as it is, is a work of grace if you do it looking unto Jesus. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in this work, for it is not yours alone, but His.

Let not your heart be troubled by the fear of losing your livelihood, as though the weight of your desk or the shaking of your hands could ever separate you from the care of Christ. You have cried out, and He hears you. The yoke of sin you have carried, this alcohol that has held you captive, is heavy indeed, full of anxieties, disappointments, and a thousand fears that chase one another like waves of the sea. But the Lord Himself says, "Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Why then do you stagger under a weight He never placed upon you? Your very confession, "I am an alcoholic," is the beginning of laying it down. Christ does not despise a broken and contrite heart; He came to save sinners, of whom you are one. Do not honor the fear of man above the fear of God. Which is more grievous: to lose the approval of bosses and customers, or to offend the Lord who bought you? If the fear of God is present with you, nothing will be grievous, not poverty, not trembling, not even the threat of losing your job. These very things can work together for your good if you entrust them to Him.

Consider your work this week. You ask for courage to complete your projects and proposals. Do you not know that in your daily labor you can serve God acceptably? The apostle Paul exhorted the Corinthians to welcome Timothy and see that he was with them without fear, "for the work of the Lord he worketh, even as I also." You are not engaged in sacred ministry as Timothy was, but the principle holds: whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. That desk before you is the altar where you offer your diligence and sobriety as a living sacrifice. Be without fear among those who watch you. Their hearts may be hard, but the Lord is the softener of hearts. Do not murmur or dispute against your circumstances; you have already begun well by giving thanks to God for getting you back to work. Continue in that gratitude, for by giving thanks in all things we serve God with reverence and godly fear. Even your struggle with shaking and sweat can become a sacrifice of praise when you offer it up, saying, "Lord, I am weak, but You are strong."

You are not alone in bearing this load. Can you not bear it all at once? Then share the burden with Christ. He is your Brother and joint-heir; make Him joint-heir with you in this battle. Give Him part, your first waking hour in prayer, your honest confession to a trusted fellow believer, the step of avoiding the place or the glass that ensnares you. Even if you can only give Him a sliver of your trust, He will multiply it. He has already given you far greater things: forgiveness, adoption, the promise of eternal life. Will He not also care for your family and your daily bread? The fear of not being able to support your wife and children drives you to despair, but remember this: even captives were worshiped by kings, and Paul the tent-maker was honored as a god by those who saw Christ in him. Your worth is not in your paycheck but in your Lord. He knows your frame; He remembers that you are dust. Go then, in the strength you have, and do the work before you. Lay down the heavy yoke of sin, and take up His light burden. You will find rest for your soul.
