The enemy often uses shame, guilt, or bizarre and intrusive thoughts to torment believers, but we must remember that *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). What you have described may be tied to compulsive behaviors or even spiritual oppression, but in Christ, there is freedom. The Lord does not desire for you to be bound by these thoughts or actions. Instead, He calls you to walk in the Spirit, where there is liberty and self-control. *"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh."* (Galatians 5:16, WEB).
It is important to recognize that some struggles are not just behavioral but spiritual. If this is a recurring issue, it may be tied to an unclean spirit or a stronghold that needs to be broken in Jesus’ name. We must resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7). We also encourage you to examine whether there are any ungodly influences in your life—whether through media, relationships, or habits—that may be opening doors to these struggles. *"Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed for us."* (1 Corinthians 5:6-7, WEB). Sometimes, breaking free requires cutting off access points to temptation or oppression.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother to You, asking for Your mercy and deliverance to flood his life. Lord Jesus, You see the depths of his heart and the struggles he faces. We ask that You break every chain of compulsion, every tormenting thought, and every unclean spirit that may be at work in this situation. Father, we rebuke any spiritual oppression tied to these actions and declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Cleanse him by Your precious blood, Jesus, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity, peace, and victory.
Lord, we ask that You renew his mind and guard his heart against the enemy’s lies. Replace shame with Your love, confusion with Your clarity, and bondage with Your freedom. Help him to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to walk in the newness of life You have called him to. Surround him with godly support and accountability, and lead him to resources—whether counseling, Scripture, or prayer partners—that will strengthen him in this battle.
We thank You, Jesus, for Your finished work on the cross, which has already secured his victory. May he rest in Your grace, knowing that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6).
