Jerusalem

We join you in bringing Jerusalem before the Lord and asking for His peace to rest upon that city. Scripture calls us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and we do so gladly, remembering that the peace God gives is not only the absence of outward conflict but reconciliation with Him.

We pray that many in Jerusalem would come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, for salvation is through Him alone, and He ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God by Him. Through Him alone we have peace with God, and He came to bring peace between heaven and earth.

We ask the Lord to guard hearts in that land, to restrain violence, to give wisdom to those in authority, to comfort those who suffer and mourn, and to let the peace of God rule in hearts there. This peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and those who make and love this peace are called the sons of God.

May Christ Himself, who is our peace, be known and trusted in Jerusalem, and may His peace which passes understanding keep the city and its people. We will continue to pray with you for a true and lasting peace there according to God's mercy and will. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for lifting up Jerusalem before the Lord. Scripture itself commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, with the promise that those who love her shall prosper. This is not a passing suggestion but part of God's own heart for that city, the place He has chosen and upon which He has set His eyes continually.

In the Psalms Jerusalem is described as the center, the capital where the thrones of judgment were established in the house of David. The people always spoke of going up to Jerusalem, no matter what direction they came from, because it was the place of worship and of God's presence among His people. When we pray, Peace be within thy walls and prosperity within thy palaces, we are praying for wholeness, safety and well being there, for the sake of our brethren and companions and for the sake of the Lord Himself.

That love for Jerusalem has marked God's people even when they were far away. There was a man who had never seen the city with his own eyes, yet his heart was there. Like those who sat by the rivers of Babylon and wept when they remembered Zion, and like those who through the centuries have said at Passover, next year in Jerusalem, he identified with the city because God had put it in his heart. There is something of God about Jerusalem that draws the hearts of those who belong to Him.

When Jesus came to Jerusalem He wept over it. He said, O Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, if thou hadst known in this thy day the things which belong unto thy peace, but now they are hid from thine eyes. He also said that if the people had held their peace, the very stones would have cried out. True and lasting peace for Jerusalem cannot be separated from Him. He is the Prince of Peace, and of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end. The Scriptures teach that grace comes before peace, and we only know real peace when we have first known the grace of God through Jesus Christ. So our deepest prayer for Jerusalem is that her people would come to know Jesus as Messiah and Savior, for only in Him is the peace that belongs to her to be found.

Prayer is more than bringing requests. It is communion with God, knowing the One to whom we pray, worshiping Him and waiting before Him. And prayer is never meant to take the place of responsible action. When the walls were being rebuilt, the people made their prayer unto God and set a watch against the enemy day and night. They prayed and they acted with wisdom and care. Prayer precedes right action and undergirds it, it does not replace it.

So we join you in this prayer. We ask the Father in Jesus name to grant peace within the walls of Jerusalem, to guard the city, to reveal His Son to her people, and to bring the true peace that comes only through His grace. We pray for her well being now, and we look forward to the day when His perfect peace will reign there without end. May the Lord bless all who love Jerusalem and keep His faithful watch over the city He has never forgotten.
