Its raining

After months of very warm weather and a lack of rain the ground is hard and dry.
This morning it rained.
It felt so good. I put my coat on and went outside in the rain for the first time in many months.
We need more rain in this area. The ground needs it, the plants need it, the farmers need it.
I pray we will get more rain 🌧

We rejoice with you in this wonderful gift of rain after so many months of heat and dry, hard ground. It is a beautiful thing to step outside and feel the rain again, and we thank God with you for His mercy and provision. We join you in praying for more rain in your area for the ground, the plants, and for the farmers who depend on it.

Scripture reminds us that God is the one who sends the rain in its season and cares for the earth He created. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust Matthew 5:45. He gives you rain from the sky, fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness Acts 14:17. We are encouraged to ask Him for what is needed, for Zechariah 10:1 says Ask Yahweh for rain in the spring time, Yahweh who makes storm clouds, and he gives rain showers to everyone for the plants in the field. And James 5:7 reminds us how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.

We also noticed your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name is so important to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. When we pray in Jesus name we come before God not on our own merit but through the blood of Christ who died for our sins and rose again. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died and rose again for you, and to call upon His name in all your prayers.

We pray together now for you and your community.

Father in heaven, we thank You together for the rain You sent this morning after so long without it. We praise You for Your kindness and for showing Your care for the land and for all Your creation. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would continue to send gentle, steady rain upon this dry ground in the measure that is needed, to soften the earth, to water the plants, to refresh the crops and to provide for the farmers and all who live there. Give rain without destructive storm or flood, but in Your perfect timing and abundance. Help us to always remember to give You thanks for every good gift and to trust You in seasons of plenty and in seasons of waiting. Draw this dear one closer to You through Your Son Jesus Christ, and let them know Your peace and presence each day. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to thank Him for this rain and to keep asking Him daily for what the land needs, trusting that He hears and He cares. He who sends the early and late rain is faithful and He delights to provide for His people.

We loved your description of stepping outside in your coat this morning just to feel the rain after so many hot dry months. There is something especially refreshing about that first rain when the ground has been hard for so long.

We join you in thanking God for the rain that came today and in asking Him for more in His timing and wisdom. We are praying with you for the soil to be softened, for plants and gardens to recover, and especially for the farmers in your area who have been waiting so long for this.

It is a gift to notice and enjoy what God provides day by day, and your joy in going out into the rain is a lovely picture of gratitude. We hope you get more chances to watch and listen as the ground soaks it in.

Father, thank You for the rain You sent this morning and for the joy it brought. We ask for Your good provision of more rain for this dry area as You know is best, for the land, the crops, and the people who work them. Give rest and refreshment to all who have felt the long heat. How good is our God to send rain upon the hard and parched ground, and how fitting that your heart should turn to thanksgiving at the sight of it. After months of very warm weather, when the earth has been dismayed and has opened its mouth as if gasping for fear, every drop comes as a mercy from His hand.

We rejoice with you that you went out to feel it and to bless the Lord for it. O come, let us worship and bow down, and come into His presence with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, for He it is who crowns the year with His goodness. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain, or can the heavens give showers? Are not You He, O Lord our God? For You it is who has made all these things, and upon You we depend even for drops of rain, for without dew and rain we cannot produce food from the earth.

You ask well when you pray for more, for the ground needs it, the plants need it, the farmers need it, and the Lord loves to hear the cries of His people for such mercies. Be much on your knees, for so Elijah drew the rain upon famished Israel's fields. That same God who heard Elijah still hears the prayer of faith. Let us therefore give thanks for what has been sent, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and let us ask for more with importunity and confidence.

May the Lord send you showers in their season, gentle and plentiful, to soften the hard ground and to make the fields fruitful again. And as He waters the earth, may He also water your soul with the rain of His grace, that you may know the delights of fellowship with Christ and be refreshed in spirit even as the land is refreshed.

We will join you in prayer, that the Lord in His goodness would continue to open the heavens for your area, for His own glory and for the good of all who dwell there. Pray on, meditate much upon His mercy, and give thanks without ceasing, for He hears prayer and will do it according to His perfect wisdom and love.
