It is right to bring these concerns before the Lord. He cares about every part of our lives, and He invites us to cast our burdens on Him because He cares for us. When we think of your mother’s diabetes and the fungal infection in her lungs, and your father’s eyesight, headaches, urinary troubles, swelling, and blood pressure, we are not asking for anything too small. Look at what God has already given for us: He did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all. If He gave that greatest gift, will He not also freely give us all things? That includes healing and strength for your parents.
Sometimes we get tangled up in what we can do for God, as if we had to prove something or earn His attention through frantic effort. But the whole emphasis of Scripture is what God has done for us. He already provided the ultimate cure for sin and death in Jesus. Our prayers are a response to that grace, not a performance. So let your request flow from a heart that trusts His goodness. You are not begging a reluctant King; you are asking a Father who knows every ache.
At the same time, we must hold loosely to our own will. Remember how Hezekiah begged for more years, and God granted his plea, but the extra time brought disastrous consequences. I am not saying your parents’ healing would be the same; I am simply reminding us that God’s wisdom exceeds ours. We can ask boldly, but we also say, “Your will be done.” What God ordains is always for our ultimate good, even when the path passes through sickness. Sometimes He permits illness to teach us deeper dependence, yet He remains the healer, and many times He chooses to restore. So we pray, and we trust.
There is another danger: we can barter off the eternal for the temporary, as if this world’s glass beads were worth more than the gold of knowing Christ. Your father and mother are more than their bodies; their souls are precious. As you pray for their physical health, pray even more that they would know the Lord’s nearness and that their faith would be strengthened. Physical healing is a mercy, and we should seek it, but the greater miracle is a heart anchored in the peace of God. Even if answers come slowly, He is with them.
I encourage you to keep these requests simple. Some people look for a secret formula or a spiritual technique, but it is really about seeking God and letting Him be in control. You might add a postscript to your regular prayers, lifting up these needs consistently with thankfulness. And remember, God’s heart is not reluctant. He has a beautiful life of victory and joy for His children, even in trials. When you pray, you are not informing Him of something He missed; you are aligning your heart with His promises.
