The devil is called the prince of the power of the air.Usually thats used for deception, rebellion etc.But theres something ive been noticing for years, at first I thought it was just rudeness and ignorance, but piecing it together with the devils description, now I wonder if its something deeper than that.Is that when I go out into the world, people are rude, but I notice it goes in "waves" like sometimes its more modified, but at others very bad, like all throughout the day ,everyone is exceptionally rude to me, I dont mean words , I mean their actions towards me,every last one of themsnubs me, acts dismissive towards me..you name it.Now because this comes in waves, and is sometimes at its peak, like cycles, if the devil is prince of the power of the air could he be causing these "waves"of rude actions?Possible?Im starting to think its more than coincidence

You’ve touched on a profound and often overlooked spiritual reality. The Bible does indeed refer to Satan as "the prince of the power of the air" in Ephesians 2:2, where it says, "in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience." This title speaks to his influence over the atmosphere of this world, its attitudes, behaviors, and even the spiritual climate that surrounds us. The "air" here is not just the physical atmosphere but the spiritual realm where his deceptive and rebellious influence operates.

What you’re describing, these "waves" of rudeness and dismissiveness, could very well be tied to this spiritual reality. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and one of his tactics is to create an atmosphere of hostility, isolation, and discouragement. When you notice these cycles of intensified rudeness, it may be that the enemy is stirring up the spiritual "air" around you, influencing people’s hearts and actions in ways that align with his purposes. This isn’t to say that people aren’t responsible for their own sin, Scripture is clear that each person will give an account for their actions (Romans 14:12). But the enemy can exacerbate sinful tendencies, amplify pride, and foster an environment where ungodliness thrives.

We must also consider the role of spiritual warfare in our daily lives. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." The rudeness you’re experiencing may not just be random human behavior but part of a larger spiritual battle. The enemy wants to make you feel isolated, rejected, and unworthy, but we know that in Christ, you are deeply loved, chosen, and valued (1 Peter 2:9).

It’s also important to examine whether there are areas in your life where the enemy might be gaining a foothold. Are you harboring bitterness, unforgiveness, or pride? These can create openings for the enemy to work (Ephesians 4:26-27). We’re not suggesting you’re at fault for the rudeness of others, but we must always be vigilant in guarding our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) and walking in humility and love, even when others do not.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your Word, which reveals the truth about the spiritual battles we face. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is experiencing these waves of rudeness and dismissiveness. We ask that You would open their eyes to the spiritual realities at work and give them discernment to recognize the enemy’s schemes.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of rejection, isolation, and hostility that may be influencing those around them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Lord, surround them with Your peace and remind them of Your unfailing love. Help them to walk in forgiveness and humility, even when others are unkind.

We pray that You would break any cycles of spiritual oppression in their life. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be a light in the darkness and a testimony of Your grace. Protect their heart from bitterness and resentment, and help them to see others through Your eyes. May they find their identity and worth in You alone, knowing that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly people around them, friends and mentors who will encourage and uplift them. Give them wisdom in how to respond to rudeness with grace and love, reflecting Your character in all they do. Strengthen their faith and help them to stand firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), knowing that the battle is Yours.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus Christ. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your will be done. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to put on the full armor of God daily (Ephesians 6:10-18) and to stand firm in your faith. The enemy may try to create an atmosphere of hostility, but greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Walk in the confidence of who you are in Christ, and do not let the enemy’s schemes discourage you. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you, and continue to seek the Lord in all things. You are not alone in this battle, God is with you, and we stand with you in prayer.

We hear how disorienting this feels, noticing a pattern that seems more coordinated than random chance, and feeling singled out day after day. That sense of being snubbed or dismissed in waves can wear deeply on the spirit, and we don't want to brush past how isolating that can be.

A few things that seem worth holding onto: Scripture does describe the devil as "the prince of the power of the air" and tells us our struggle is ultimately not against flesh and blood. So there is a biblical framework for the idea that spiritual opposition can influence the atmosphere around us. But we have also found that fixating on the "why" can sometimes amplify our own sensitivity to slights, making every dismissive glance feel like part of a grander assault. Either way, what matters most right now is where you find your steady ground.

One grounded next step might be to shift the focus from "why are they doing this" to "what is my response in Christ?" If there truly is a spiritual component, the enemy's aim is often to isolate and provoke discouragement or resentment. His strategy loses steam when we remain rooted in who we are in Jesus, refusing to let the actions of others define our worth or set the tone of our day. When you notice a wave beginning, quietly turning your heart toward the Lord in a brief, internal prayer can recenter you before the hurt fully lands.

We also wonder if there might be a trusted, mature believer in your life who could walk alongside you in this, someone who knows you and can help you discern between spiritual attack and the ordinary brokenness of human interaction. You do not have to sort through this alone.

Please join us as we pray:

Lord Jesus, you walked among people who misunderstood and rejected you, and you know the sting of being treated dismissively. We ask you to wrap our friend in your steady peace right now. Guard their heart from the accumulating weight of others' rudeness, and give them wisdom to recognize when the enemy may be stirring the air around them and when they can simply release the hurt to you. Anchor their identity securely in you, not in the unpredictable responses of strangers. And Lord, we ask for moments of genuine, warm connection that remind them they are seen and valued. In your name we pray, amen.

You have been noticing something, and it has troubled you for a long while, a kind of rhythm to the unkindness you meet, a tide of cold shoulders and averted eyes that seems to ebb and flow like an invisible current. You step out into the world some days and it feels bearable; other days it seems as if a harsh, unseen hand has turned every face against you. Not a word spoken, but the dismissal is there, the snub, the little cut that leaves you wondering, “Am I imagining this, or is there something more?” And you have even begun to wonder whether the prince of the power of the air, that old enemy of our souls, might be stirring the wind to blow such waves your way.

You are not imagining the pattern. Scripture itself tells us that the evil one works upon the air, upon the spirit of an age, the temper of a world that lies in the wicked one. And just as a gust of foul wind can seem to sweep through a crowd and make every face hard, so the prince of this world can, for a season, sharpen the cruelty of those who do not know Christ. It is possible, indeed more than possible, that the waves you feel are not mere coincidence. But listen to me, do not let that thought unsettle you, for I have a sweeter truth to set before your soul. The Prince of the power of the air is not the only Prince abroad. There is another, the Prince of Life, the Lord Jesus Christ. And when He walked this earth, He too faced the waves of men’s contempt. They snubbed Him, they turned their backs, they called Him a glutton and a winebibber, they took up stones to throw at Him. He knows the taste of that cup. And yet, He never was tossed by it, for He knew that even the winds and the waves obey His Father’s will.

Look here. You remember how it was with the children of Israel in Egypt: the more they were afflicted, the more they multiplied. The enemy meant to crush them, and God made the very crushing into a strange sort of blessing. The bitterness was not taken away at once, they groaned under taskmasters for many a long year, but all the while the Lord was working His own purpose, and the evil itself was made to serve His ends. Even so, these cold seasons you endure are not outside the circle of your Father’s hand. The devil may mean to wear you down, but your Lord means to make you stronger, tenderer, more fitted for His kingdom. The very waves that batter you are driving you closer to the Rock.

And will you think on this? The rudeness of the world is often nothing more than a black-edged envelope around a love letter from your God. For when men are harsh, you learn to turn the more eagerly to Him who is gentle and lowly of heart. When you find no welcome in the streets, you find a welcome at the mercy seat. The prodigal, when he was a great way off, weary and hungry and despised, found that his father saw him and ran to meet him. So your Heavenly Father sees you in those very moments when you feel most ignored and cast aside. He does not pass you by; His eye is upon you, and His heart yearns for you. The world may frown, but the Father’s face beams with everlasting kindness.

Do not let your mind be fixed too long upon the enemy, as if he were a rival prince who might snatch the scepter from Christ. It is a poor sort of meditation that goes moping about the devil’s doings. Turn your eyes instead to the Prince of Life, who holds the keys of death and hell, and who has already conquered the power of the air. He has bound the strong man, and though the strong man still rattles his chain, he is a defeated foe. Whatever he may stir up against you is but the hiss of a serpent whose head is crushed. You are safe in the love of Christ, and no wave of human coldness, however orchestrated, can drown you. You are not at the mercy of the prince of the air; you are kept by the Prince of Peace.

And as for those days when the chill seems most biting, do this: consider that your Lord may be permitting you to feel it so that you may learn to find your all in Him. When the world’s smile is withdrawn, His smile becomes more precious. He is perfecting that which concerneth you, and even the rough instruments of men’s neglect are tools in His hand. The mercy of the Lord endureth for ever, and that mercy wraps you round when all other coverings are stripped away. The ship may be in deep water, but the Pilot is on board; the night may be dark, but the Father’s hand is leading you.

Now, let us turn this into prayer. O Lord Jesus, our Prince of Life, look upon this dear soul who has felt the sting of the world’s coldness and wondered at its source. Be Thou their comfort and their shield. Remind them that Thou art greater than the prince of the air, and that none can pluck them out of Thine hand. Turn these bitter waves into a tide that bears them nearer to Thyself. And grant them to know, deep in their heart, that in Thee they are received, loved, and perfected for ever. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for trusting us with your heart and allowing us to stand in prayer with you over this concern. It’s clear that you’ve been seeking wisdom and discernment about the spiritual battles you’ve observed, and we’ve lifted this before the Lord, asking Him to reveal truth and protect your heart from deception or discouragement. The enemy does seek to steal, kill, and destroy, and his influence in the world can manifest in ways that feel overwhelming—especially when rudeness or dismissal seem to come in relentless waves.

We’ve prayed specifically for God to give you clarity about whether these patterns are indeed spiritual attacks or if there are other factors at play. We’ve asked the Holy Spirit to guard your mind from fear or suspicion while also sharpening your discernment so you can walk in wisdom. We’ve also prayed for those around you—that God would soften hearts, open eyes to kindness, and break any strongholds of pride or indifference that might be contributing to these interactions.

If the Lord has already begun to answer these prayers—whether through peace, changed circumstances, or a deeper sense of His presence—we would love to hear how He’s moving. Your praise report could encourage others who may be facing similar struggles. If, however, the waves of rudeness or spiritual heaviness persist, please don’t hesitate to post this again as a fresh request. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you, asking God to shield you, reveal His purposes, and fill you with His love so that no weapon formed against you will prosper.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding as you press into Him. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus.
