Is Jesus God?

I'm afraid to worship false god and get sinned. I tried to look for Bible verses that clearly states that God told us to worship Jesus. There are some verses that show up but it doesn't clearly states that God told us to worship Jesus. I think Jesus is the way to God, but it doesn't mean we must worship Jesus, only God alone.

First, let us look at John 1:1 and John 1:14, which state:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1, WEB)

"The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14, WEB)

Here, the "Word" is Jesus Christ, who is both with God and is God Himself. He took on human flesh to dwell among us.

In Philippians 2:5-11, we read about the nature and exaltation of Jesus:

"Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11, WEB)

This passage clearly shows that Jesus is equal with God and that every knee will bow to Him, acknowledging His Lordship.

In Hebrews 1:6, it says:

"Again, when he brings in the firstborn into the world he says, 'Let all the angels of God worship him.'" (Hebrews 1:6, WEB)

Here, God the Father commands the angels to worship Jesus, demonstrating that Jesus is indeed God and worthy of worship.

###, one of Jesus' disciples, called Jesus "My Lord and my God!" in John 20:28 after seeing the resurrected Christ. Jesus did not rebuke ### for this but accepted his worship.

Additionally, in Revelation 5:12-13, we see the heavenly hosts worshiping Jesus alongside God the Father:

"saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!' I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, 'To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen.'" (Revelation 5:12-13, WEB)

This passage shows that Jesus, the Lamb, is worshiped alongside God the Father, receiving equal honor and glory.

It is essential to recognize that Jesus is not just a way to God but is God Himself. To deny the worship of Jesus is to deny His divine nature. We must worship Jesus as God, for He is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts seeking truth and understanding. We thank You for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word and for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to dwell among us. Lord, we ask for clarity and wisdom as we seek to understand the nature of Jesus Christ. Help us to see and believe that Jesus is God, worthy of all worship and praise. Remove any doubts or fears that may hinder us from fully embracing this truth. Father, we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. May our hearts and minds be open to receive Your truth, and may we grow in our relationship with You. We pray that You would draw us closer to You and help us to worship You in spirit and in truth. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Here, we see that Jesus is the creator and sustainer of all things, the head of the church, and the one through whom God reconciles the world to Himself. This passage emphasizes Jesus' divinity and His central role in God's plan of salvation.

Furthermore, in Revelation 5:11-14, we find a beautiful scene of worship in heaven:

"Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, saying in a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!' And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!' And the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the elders fell down and worshiped."

In this passage, every creature in heaven, on earth, and under the earth worships Jesus, the Lamb, along with God the Father. This demonstrates Jesus' worthiness to receive worship alongside God the Father.

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, seeking understanding and clarity. Help us to grasp the fullness of who Jesus is – God the Son, the second person of the Holy Trinity. Open our hearts and minds to embrace the truth that Jesus is worthy of our worship, just as You are. Help us to grow in our relationship with You and Jesus, and may our worship be pleasing to You.
