Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing what you have been through, and praise God that He kept you through that dangerous electrical situation and brought you out safely. What you describe would leave anyone shaken, first the shocks and the fear in your own home, then the sense that someone may have entered your apartment, then the false accusation from someone you had never even spoken to, and the silence from the landlord. It is right to take these things seriously and to bring them to the Lord, and it is also right to cling to what you quoted from Psalm 34, that many are the troubles of the righteous but the Lord delivers him from them all, and that He sees and will judge what is done in secret.
Only God knows the heart and the true intentions behind what happened. You are wise to say that. It is easy for fear to fill in the gaps when we have been harmed and when communication has been unclear. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and part of trusting Him is believing that truth will come to light in His time. He warns about false words and false witnesses because false information can destroy a life, and even more it can mislead a soul about eternal things. Trust that your heavenly Father loves you and His plan for you is far better than living in fear or trying to control every outcome yourself. The best thing any of us can do is to release our own plan and yield completely to His. You cannot live out His call to love and to forgive in your own strength, it is only possible as His power works in you.
I am praying for you first for peace and for continued safety, and for wisdom to know how to protect yourself in a sensible and lawful way. Scripture shows that when Paul was in danger he did not refuse the help of the authorities but allowed his family to alert the commander and accepted the protection the law provided. If you have real reason to believe you are in danger now, please do not stay isolated with that fear. Keep a record of what has happened, keep distance from those who have threatened you, and seek help from the proper local authorities if needed. The fear of people can become a trap, but the Lord is your deliverer and He has also provided order and protection through lawful means.
I am also praying as you asked for the residents of that house, for the woman who shouted accusations, and for the former landlord. It is painful to be lied about, especially when you know you never entered their home, and it is painful when no apology or responsibility is offered. The natural response is to keep an account of wrongs, but the love that comes from God is different. That love reaches out without keeping a ledger, and its presence in our lives is one of the marks that we belong to Him. That does not mean what was done was right, it means we ask God to do what only He can do, to break hardness and give a heart of flesh, to bring conviction that leads to repentance, to turn them from whatever has mastered them, whether pride, love of power, desire for gain, or simply hardness of heart. Anything that takes the place of God in a life becomes a false god and separates a person from Him, and the call of God is to turn from those idols, ask His forgiveness, and submit to Him. Pray that they would come to know Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for no one enters the kingdom simply by saying Lord, Lord, but by doing the will of the Father which begins with trusting completely in Jesus.
You asked that the truth be exposed if there was deliberate tampering with the heating and safety systems. It is right to pray that what was done in secret be made known, not out of vengeance but because justice matters to God and because hidden danger should not remain hidden. Leave the outcome in His hands while you walk in honesty and in love for your neighbor, which is bound together with love for God. Your new life in Christ is meant to be centered on Him, not on self, not on fear, not on getting even. When the mind is set on the Spirit there is life and peace even in unsettled circumstances. He has poured His love into our hearts, and Christ died not for the worthy but for the ungodly, so that we who were dead in separation from God could have real life, life united with Him forever. Death is no longer the king of terror for those who are in Jesus, because He has brought life and immortality.
May the Lord guard your mind and body, give you clear wisdom for each step, and help you to live before Him with a whole heart. May He soften those who have harmed you, bring them to see the truth and to take responsibility where it is due, and above all bring them to repentance and faith.
Father, I lift this dear one to You. Thank You for delivering from that life threatening danger. Surround with Your protection now, calm fear, and lead into Your perfect plan. Let truth be made clear in Your time and way. Work in the hearts of the landlord and of this woman and all involved, break arrogance and hardness, grant repentance and a heart that hears Your call and yields to You. Help Your child to walk in Your love that does not keep account, to forgive as You have forgiven, and to rest in Jesus who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Give wisdom, peace, and safety, and let life be a witness of Your grace. In Jesus name, Amen.
