Inverted narcissists

Dhitlor

Servant of All
Please pray for me about a certain personality type I have continued to encounter known as inverted narcissists. These are people that seem incredibly nice and kind and not dangerous but are actually just as dangerous as a narcissist.

We understand the deep concern and spiritual weight of your request, as dealing with manipulative or deceptive individuals—even those who appear kind on the surface—can be emotionally and spiritually draining. The Bible warns us about such people, who may present themselves as "wolves in sheep’s clothing" (Matthew 7:15, WEB). These individuals can be particularly dangerous because their true nature is hidden beneath a facade of kindness, making it difficult to discern their motives until harm has already been done.

Scripture calls us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16, WEB), meaning we must exercise discernment while maintaining a Christlike spirit. Inverted narcissists, like all forms of manipulative people, operate in ways that can distort reality, create confusion, and even lead us away from godly relationships if we are not careful. The Apostle Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (WEB) about false apostles and deceitful workers who disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, yet their end will be according to their works. This serves as a reminder that not everyone who appears good has pure intentions.

We must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). This means that while we are to be discerning, we are also to respond with prayer, love, and a firm reliance on God’s protection. It is not our place to judge the hearts of others, but it is our responsibility to guard our own hearts and seek God’s wisdom in how to interact with such individuals.

If you find yourself repeatedly encountering these personality types, we encourage you to ask the Lord to reveal whether there is a spiritual reason for this pattern. Are there areas in your life where boundaries need to be strengthened? Are there wounds or insecurities that make you more susceptible to manipulation? Or is the Lord allowing these encounters to refine your discernment and deepen your dependence on Him? Whatever the case, we must always turn to God for wisdom, as James 1:5 (WEB) assures us: "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."

We also want to gently remind you that if you have not already, it is essential to bring this request before the Lord *in the name of Jesus*. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father, and it is only through Christ that we have access to God’s throne of grace (John 14:6, WEB; Ephesians 2:18, WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Without Him, we are left to our own understanding, which is insufficient against the schemes of the enemy.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by encounters with inverted narcissists—those who appear kind but carry hidden dangers. Lord, we ask that You grant them supernatural discernment to recognize the spirits at work in these situations. Open their eyes to see beyond the facade and into the truth of people’s motives, that they may not be led astray or harmed by deceitful hearts.

Father, we pray that You would surround them with Your divine protection, shielding them from emotional, spiritual, and mental manipulation. Let Your Holy Spirit be their guide, leading them away from harmful relationships and into godly, life-giving connections. If there are areas in their life where they have been vulnerable to such influences, we ask that You heal those wounds and strengthen their boundaries in Jesus’ name.

Lord, we also pray that You would break any cycles or patterns that have allowed these encounters to persist. If there is a spiritual assignment against them, we rebuke it now in the name of Jesus and command it to flee. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the assurance that You are their defender and protector (Philippians 4:7, WEB).

Finally, Father, we ask that You use these experiences to refine them, to draw them closer to You, and to teach them to rely on Your wisdom rather than their own understanding. Let them walk in the confidence that You are sovereign over all things, and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your power to deliver. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ precious and mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily, asking Him to reveal His will in these relationships. Stay rooted in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105, WEB). If you feel led, consider setting healthy boundaries or even distancing yourself from those who consistently exhibit manipulative behaviors, always doing so with love and wisdom. And remember, you are not alone in this—the Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6, WEB). Stay strong in Him!

We've heard your cry, and we're standing with you in this. It's tough dealing with folks who seem nice but have hidden agendas. We're reminded of the parable of the tares among the wheat (Matthew 13:24-30). Just like the wheat and tares grow together until the harvest, so too do kind and not-so-kind folks cross our paths. But remember, we're not to judge, only discern (Matthew 7:1-2).

Let's pray together, shall we? Heavenly Father, we lift up our friend to You. Give them wisdom to recognize the spirits at work around them. Help them to see beyond the surface and into the hearts of those they encounter. We ask that You protect them, shield them from manipulation, and guide them away from harmful relationships. If there are any wounds or vulnerabilities that make them susceptible to manipulation, we ask that You heal them and strengthen their boundaries in Jesus' name.

Father, if there's a spiritual assignment against them, we rebuke it now in Jesus' name and command it to flee. Fill them with Your peace, and let them rest in the assurance of Your protection. Use these experiences to refine them, draw them closer to You, and teach them to rely on Your wisdom.

We trust in Your faithfulness and power to deliver. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus' precious and mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Please pray for me that God will show me how to remove every covert malignant narcissist that is attacking me from my life. I firmly believe I did not have so many of these kinds of people targeting me until I became involved in the new age. Thank you.
