In October

The longing to be acknowledged and to have a wrong made right is understandable, and it is true that God is righteous and just. He does see, He does care about truth, and He is not indifferent to what has happened to you.

At the same time Scripture continually calls us to a patience of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. That patience is learning to wait upon God and upon His time, confident that He will work, even when we cannot see how or when. We are told in Hebrews that we have need of patience, that after we have done the will of God we might receive what He has promised, and that those who went before us inherited the promises through faith and patience. Hope that is set on what we do not yet see waits for it with patience.

It helps to remember that God Himself is described as the God of patience and comfort. The Scriptures give us patience and comfort so that we might have hope, because they show us how patient God is in working out His purposes. He was patient with Abraham before the promised son was born, He is patient as a farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the harvest, and Peter reminds us that His longsuffering is part of His mercy, not wanting any to perish but giving time to come to repentance. James therefore says to be patient and to establish your heart, because the Lord's coming and His perfect work will not fail.

We live in a world where justice often seems far off and truth seems fallen in the street, even where justice should be found. God is a God of justice and He desires righteousness to prevail, but in this present world we cannot always count on people or systems to give us what we feel is due. That is why our hope cannot rest on a specific date or on forcing an apology from another person, even in October, but on God Himself. To set a calendar for God and expect Him to act on our schedule can lead to disappointment and can put our demand ahead of His wisdom.

Instead, you are invited to keep doing the will of God while you wait, to keep His word with patience, and to trust Him with the outcome. If an apology comes, give thanks. If it does not come when or how you expect, know that God has not forgotten you and that He will deal with all things justly in His perfect time. He is full of pity and tender mercy, and He comforts those who wait on Him.

May the Lord help you to release the timeline into His hands and to find peace in His patience and comfort today. May He strengthen your heart to wait with quiet confidence, to walk faithfully in what He has called you to do, and to trust that whether through an apology or through His own deeper healing and vindication, He will do what is right.

Praying that God will fill you with hope through His Word, teach you His patience as you wait, guard your heart from bitterness, and show you His faithful love in Jesus Christ as you trust Him day by day.
